Default Why is ALPA so unreasonable?

I had to giggle at the "special message" meant to offer more "color and context" to operation issues. Thankfully the MEC saw through the "bag of air" being offered in the LOA. The promise of add pay is an empty promise when the payroll system is so crippled that you'll never see it anyway.

When negotiations fail with the bargaining agent, I guess the only other option is to go directly to the membership. Textbook move!

If you cut the emotion out of it, he really just did state the facts.

"...When I'm able, I want to offer you more..."
A special message to announce that all the details can't be shared right now. And that's immediately after stating "...that without the facts, rumors get started..."

I'm confused.

Blaming the MEC for not letting the pilots get more add pay while not addressing the issues that led to the rejection is decidedly one sided to me. I'll just accept that the MEC no longer found it "reasonably practicable" to work under MOU 22.

ALPA operates with one goal in mind - To protect the pilot group. Sometimes that might not be apparent to all the pilots but you can be darn sure that the decision was not made by one ALPA rep. It was debated by the MEC and the decision was made. I can't say that I have agreed with ALPA all the time but one thing I do know is that they are looking after OUR best interest. Howard operates by the marching orders and talking points given to him by management.

Thank you for this. As far as I am concerned the company can pound sand until they begin to act in good faith and abide by the contract and every friggin arbitrator decision. Until then, have a nice day.

You missed the point. The point was that yes the LOA paid more and was a win for the pilots verse the MOU and current book. Zero downside. Also, LOA or no LOA it does not speed up the broken IT, arbitrated decisions, or scheduler training.

Agree. The company cheats pilots out of pay on 117 extensions. Pilots stop extending. The company cancels flights and loses money. The company offers to stop cheating us on 117 extensions. We say yes--but to stop cheating us everywhere in the UPA, not just in 117 extensions. The company is confused because it doesn't see the connection. It's all connected because it's one UPA. How about DH seat assignments. Pay claims. uSource receipts. FIFO. Opaque "min reserve coverage". OE captains reassigning IROs and FOs contrary to PBS award. I'm glad the union said enough already.

Yet the MEC unanimously rejected the LOA, don't you find that curious? Maybe they also felt that there was zero downside to rejecting it. After all, without IT, award compliance, and training the pilots have zero chance to see the increases.

Egamazacely........

It doesn't matter if we fix a dent in the car if the car isn't running.

I have emailed Howard about problems with my pay. My problems usually result in me "trying too hard to make the operation happen." SRM pay, or voluntary junior man pay on HDO is usually the problem. Then I had problems with lost day off, and then with CCO time. Bottom Line: Company keeps the money until you prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you deserve the money.

I am really tired of having to spend my time off figuring out my pay. So, I'd rather that ALPA not negotiate too earnestly on another "good deal" right now.

Whatever bonus or overtime mechanisms we have, they need to be clearly understood and easily explained to the pilots.

Now, I never accept an assignment over and above the normal schedule unless the pay is stipulated and put in comments section of pairing.
