Aww, only hiring 20%? How sad. Can I file a lawsuit against FedEx am Delta then for not hiring enough civvies?

Give me a break.

In 2014 30% of United newhires were military; for Delta it was 47%.

20% is nowhere near lawsuit territory. And that's not an accurate number. It's 25-30% military. Those are solid numbers, especially if you take flight hours into consideration.

I wasn't giving creditability to the rumor just asking if there was any truth in it.

I know you weren't, WARich. There's just so much irony in the existence of that rumor that I couldn't help interjecting.

Better data to know would be the amount of applicants who are actually military and what percentage of military applicants get hired from that number. If they're hiring 1,000 pilots per year and they hire 300 military out of 400 military applicants, those are pretty good odds. Of course there could be 2,000 military apps for all we know.

Seems odd they suddenly are looking for military guys via these military webinars...... As if there haven't been a zillion military guys applying over the last few years. Seems like a classic CYA situation.........

Make sure you hit "publish" on airlineapps. About 200 guys don't have an app that is published.

Put your community service/volunteer activity or pilot group service under "educational awards and achievements" otherwise they will never see any of it. If you volunteer A LOT of hours without pay and you are in a leadership position with some organization, you may want to place that activity under employment history as if it were another job.

There are no point deductions for high flight times... they stressed this... non whatsoever. But there is a maximum point benefit no matter how much time you may have, so (making this up no actual numbers were stated) 8,000 hrs may rate the same points as 11,000 or 13,000. College degree very important point-wise.

Rec letters can be from anyone, not inside United and not just people you have flown with... they want to hear about your character from people who know and respect you.

They do want to know about all serious ASAP type events. List them if you ever had any letter or any action from the FAA. These do not count points against you for getting the interview. Just be honest. Same with driving record. Tell all.

Hogan assessment failure counts as an interview failure if you reapply. 2 interviews is the maximum.

Don't act like they owe you a job because you fly United Express already.

With almost 70% of the eligible AF pilots taking the bonus in the 2012-2013 time frame to stay in for 5-9 more years, I honestly don't think the amount of mil applicants outweighed the civ applicants from regionals. The AF has 13,000 pilots and only a small fraction of those are even eligible for separation and/or retirement. I do think the amount of mil pilots taking the bonus is going to plummet drastically over the next 5 yrs though.
