Secondly keeping the scope you have can be done. An example of this is the LCAL contract 02. While it was concessionary and ground was given in many areas the 50 seat jet scope was successfully retained at a time that the "industry standard" was 70 seats. The idea was that scope once given away is impossible to recapture while pay rates, work rules etc... Can be improved.
I can't imagine a major airline ever being allowed to strike. At least not UAL, DAL, AA, or SWA. Too big and too much disruption. We wanted pricing power, job security, and the consolidation over the las 10 years gave us that. What we gave up for it was self-help.

So you gave up a bunch of pay and QOL to have 70 seaters flown on the property. How many 70 seaters did the company buy for you to fly?

Were your code sharing partners flying those 70 seaters as part of their express operations? Were your code sharing partners flying 747s, 777s, 767s, etc?

You can fight the 70 or 76 seat battle all you want, but you aren't going to win it. That pandora's box was opened and its out there now.

We had a crap load of 104 seat 737-500's that would have been parked if the 70's would have shown up.

I am not fighting the 70-76 seat battle. That fight was lost. I am answering a question that asked why I voted no and then doubted my sincerity.

I am also hoping to influence some to not give up scope next time just cause Delta did....Or for any other reason for that matter.

An equal combination of Whales, 767-400's, and 777's as to be determined. Perhaps I'm wrong but please site where UAL has indicated plans to actually grow the number of WB aircraft.

Any chance the 767-400's or 777's could be coming to Delta? Love to expand the fleet!

Umm, none of the types you list are being retired. 10 777-A's are being configured for domestic flying but no 767-400's are being retired and no 747(beyond the previously announced 2) are being retired anytime soon.

We will have to wait till the outcome of today's 10 am long term planning conference, and then see if they change their minds tomorrow.

I am still trying to figure out how to get them to pay me correctly for last month.

United converts majority of 787-8 orders to -10 variant - 8/4/2014 - Flight Global

Fleet plan is still current WB's getting axed as the new sparkies and big busses arrive. Granted the bigger sparkies are being supplemented by the 777-300's, but no where has the company said any current order would result in WB fleet growth. If you can show otherwise, please do.

Current fleet plan on company investor relations website shows -2 747s and +11 787s for 2015.

Next year's plan is -2 747s. Unknown number of 787s and 777s but I would guess at least +4.
