United didn't exit Chapter 11 until February 2006 and DAL & NWA were waiting to see if UAL and/or U.S. Air liquidated otherwise they would have pulled the trigger earlier.

The mechanics stood up to the judge and voted against their portion of the $2.5B of concessions and the judge imposed and additional 1% pay cut on them to make a point.

Wow, a strike vote. Like the 99% one United did before voting for the UPA 66% yes? American didn't go Chapter 11 until 2011 with $4B in the bank. There was no industry-wide downturn at the time. A completely different story.

Umm check the post above yours . . .

I can always tell when I'm arguing with someone from the bottom half of their high school class Short remarks with no substance and lots of inference. You really want to debate this let's take it to a new thread and start with a verifiable bio that shows your college degrees and grades.

Another short comment with inference and no substance. My name is Joe Peck. You can find me on Facebook, and all over the internet. I have a well laid out bio. How about your name and bio? No? I would gather not because internet buffoons like you prefer to hide behind anonymity.

He did... but not without the help.

Aloha Airlines emerged from Chapter 11 in February 2006 and ceased operations just two years later. What a great example of how to expertly use leverage. I would be interested to read the HBS case study on this remarkable labor tactic.
