Sorry, but the laws of supply and demand still rule and the regulatory environment only raises the barriers to entry and exit higher, both of which work to our advantage.

We're saying the same thing...economy is better, unfettered market forces (supply and demand) rule the playing field, consolidation helps. However, history has no basis for current day negotiations...it is a good read though.

Let me say I'm sorry for this apparent (well maybe more than apparent) but there is no really appropriate place to stick this.
I Know everybody has a lot of things going on right now but I'm going to ask you to take just a minute and contact you congressional rep's and remind them to continue to press the DOT to NOT approve the operation of Norwegian Air (Shuttle) flights in to or out of the U.S> using the Operating Certificate they "bought" in Ireland.
I remind them that we once had a thriving maritime industry that is all but gone today, mainly because of "Flag of Convenience". Shameful at least.
And the belief that Ireland has the money, the manpower or the wherewithal to monitor and oversee the operation and safety of an airline that does not even operate there is a complete fantasy.
I'm not going to try and put this in all the carriers threads (you're just the lucky ones, Ha), maybe one Regional thread.
If any of you can pass this reminder on to the other carriers through your contacts; I think that would be good.
I'm retired so I don't see too many anymore.
Again sorry for the intrusion and thanks for any support.

Uhh....not really. SFO 76T this month, 67% are on reserve due to the transition in flying. Guys there will be on reserve that haven't ever been on reserve under the current rules, haven't been there for decades.
In good times, yes. Good times won't last. New guys need to have a longer view...

Thank you Sunvox. Lot of naive people on here. You have one guy "DaveFitzgerald" that actually thinks if we say no, that we'll get full SEC 6 done in return, not in 4-6 years but in months!!!!! Some pilots just don't get it. We can't go back to the table if we say NO to this. We can't add any other topics to this. We can't go back and change reserve rules, and so on. We say NO and this goes now to just full SEC 6 negotiations that will take years. Your calculations are correct with no accrual of interest. You take that 90K worth of earnings and apply interest and then it's much more. You take that amount, and don't touch it and let earn over the course of 10 - 20 years and you are talking about a couple hundred thousand to over a million dollars. But some pilots are not going to get it. Some dinosaur types will still bang on the table and want full SEC 6 that will take 4-6 years with NO BACK PAY. Pilots always lose on SEC 6, even when they think they won. Pure stupidity to say NO on this. Of course I want to see all the details like anyone else, but with no SCOPE give backs and then the ME TOO DAL clause, this is solid. And for all these reserve guys complaining: it won't be long since you're upward mobility is super strong for the next 6 months to a year. That's counting an interest rate increase and other issues that might occur. And some of these reserves that are complaining, 'voluntarily' bid to higher paying wide body FO seats and some to hold CAP seats. Can't believe i'm hearing whining from these pilots that chased the money. I agree reserve rules are not where they need to be, but the company is going to drag out reserve rule implementation for the next year or two anyhow, so why not get the 16% pay raise now along with DAL ME TOO clause. Sure makes that pain a lot easier to tolerate. No one is going to force or use leverage to get management to negotiate quicker. Probably one of the most unintelligent comments echoed by the naive. Leverage, what a joke. This TA will pass, and we will be better because of it.

Has there EVER been a "fat turkey in the bush"? Contract 2000 had one...I think we bit into it 2 or 3 times before it went away.
