I had our PAI (principal Avionics Inspector) on the jumpseat the other day. he was asking me allot of questions about maintenance on the 767. He then had some interesting data about hours flown on the airframes we have. I know the Feds are watching the 767 operation because in his words those airframes are pretty tired. I knew that .
already.

If we don't have a replacement for the 767 I guess were gonna have to outsource that flying to a code share partner, or get bigger RJ's. I guess the "region" in regional jet is just gonna get bigger. Were gonna need a 4600 NM capable jet or one with inflight refueling....

look for management to come up with some clever code sharing to outsource flying to our so-called "partners". Not OUR FAULT management isn't taking advantage of good pricing on the 787. No clue how the A 350 is being perceived by management, but it would be nice to hear from them as to what that status is????

I am sure Scott Kirby is on here....What say you Mr. Kirby?

Yes, I believe you are correct. But leasing companies sell their aircraft all the time. Haven't we been on track to purchase many of the guppies that CAL had on lease? I'm not certain, but I think we do own most of our fleet now.

Slightly old news but shows the purchase off lease of existing aircraft.

Not a hard slam on you...just a gentle reminder that no one in this business is immune from it happening to themselves.
Agreed, to a certain extent- especially in the US where competition is fair. In Europe where they let these BS unfair business practices go on, not so much to those airlines cheating the system. WOW I believe was one of those cheating the system, not sure though. Norwegian, NAI, definitely. ******* those guys and any pilot who works for them. They are deserving of the word scabs.

Nope. The word scab has a very defined meaning and it can’t be altered to evolve into whatever someone today wants it to be. It’s kind of like 2+2 will always equal 4 and nothing else despite strong opinions or emotions. Ignoring the definition dumbs down the meaning. A scab is a very specific thing, and those guys deserve a demeaning definition that is all theirs. You can come up with a new word for people who undermine a union workforce, but without actually crossing a picket line, they aren’t scabs.

That’s fine, but calling everybody a scab who does something different or for less money accomplishes nothing. Are the pilots at Atlas (many of them were Polar strikers) scabs for flying 747’s with captain wages that are almost $140/hour less than ours? Of course they’re not, neither are the Norwegian pilots.

People worry too much about airlines like Norwegian. Their product is what we call basic economy and is extremely seasonal since it is geared towards the leisure traveler who is primarily concerned with price. They get by in the summer, but hemorrhage cash the rest of the year. The market is taking care of them for us.

I agree with you that scabs should have their own demeaning designation. But there is also a scab-mentality. I’m all in favor of scabs being held accountable for their selfish actions!!!
