What does this give them? Because it gives them something. They offered this up out of the goodness or their cold black hearts?

Explain to me how we “got them on this one” and I’ll vote yes. If the “offered” 477 then they are getting off cheap.

In my opinion, we (the IPA) always think we have the upper hand when something like this is negotiated, only to find out later we got screwed.

If someone can change my mind on that, I’ll vote yes, because I think there’s something else going on here for this “too good to be true” offer to be handed to us.

And before we get into all the hard works that went into it, I applaud them for that, I truly do. But they laughed their ass off as soon as our reps left the room, I could almost guarantee you of that.

carry on….
I doubt anyone can answer your question…I doubt anyone will even try. Some peeps are destined to vote NO…and that is ok.
Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads and single Moms out there. Keep holding it down.

That’s why I think we should start this sooner than later. All other things aside that reason alone is enough for me to vote No, because it gives them something..what that is I don’t know.

But I will bet that somewhere in ATL they want us to buy off on this, otherwise why even offer it? They could have told us to pack sand and we’ll see you in a couple years, but they didn’t. They blinked, and I don’t like it.

Debating based on those questions is the same as debating a ghost. We don’t have any way of knowing the company’s motivations and therefore I’m not going to base my vote on some unproven hypothetical. Using that logic, we should vote no on every agreement we make with the company, because obviously any agreement benefits them somehow.

The problem you’re going to have convincing someone to vote no is the fact you were a hard and adamant no before you had any information. It was not well thought out and nothing was seriously considered. You and a few others were a no the second you saw the email.

Sure - send me a link to the CBA and last extension, and I'll run the numbers vs actual CPI and Fed estimates based on their FRB/US model.

With so much distrust of the EB...what exactly is the point again? It's a clear YES...the entire EB said YES, so the members should obviously vote in line.

Like most IPA guys I’m disappointed with the numbers in the extension and would prefer to expedite negotiations on an all new contract. However, we elected the EB to do a job. They have done the job and provided feedback on why they did what they did. If you think they are full of crap, vote no and start looking for an alternative slate of EB candidates. If you think they did their job, follow through on your vote for them and vote yes. We can debate the merits of the TA, but it really boils down to whether the EB is doing its job or not.

Agree with you (and others on here). We elect the EB to work on this stuff on our behalf. They aren’t always perfect, but they certainly spend more time looking at it from every angle than I do. They also have access to information that we don’t due to NDAs and the like, but what it really boils down to is they have never given me reason to believe that they would not be working toward our best interest. If the EB is unanimous it is an easy yes vote for me. It’s human nature to want more…but that’s not always how these things work. Union elections are the time to let your dissatisfaction with the union be known (look at the teamsters), but I believe showing unity in this negotiation puts us in a stronger position for the next (bigger) negotiation.

It doesn’t cost them anything. These pay increases would otherwise be secured through the contract or a signing bonus. Pay now vs pay later type of thing….

For one, I'd rather be paid now than paid later. For those retiring outside of the flat dollar demographic there is no "later", and if insurance rates go up?

I'm still waiting for the "we'll get that later" items from the mid term agreement.

Medical insurance premiums cannot go up when contract becomes amendable. It was just a feel good item by our Union as it is protected regardless.
