Fixed it for ya, as this will most likely drag into the 30’s if we start negotiating in ‘25.

Has anyone here with concerns been to a GMM and addressed them directly with the EB? If so, did it impact your decision calculus?

Tried to make the SDF GMM. Unfortunately, the company sent me on a trip that day (reserve callout). It does irritate me that there is only one GMM per domicile. If they held 2-3 per domicile, spaced appropriately, everyone would have a chance to attend. I planned a few questions, but unless the answers were dramatically different than what the presentation and FAQs already have, it’s unlikely my decision would change.

You are free to call the IPA anytime with questions you may have. They work for the membership and you do pay dues.

I’m aware, but there is value in seeing the answer given in a public forum. Although I’m dissatisfied with what we have been presented with in this extension, I see it as the least bad option at the moment. If United votes their TA down in flames, I may reconsider, but otherwise I don’t see us having significant leverage to get a better deal.

Are you thinking of applying there? What United pilots accept shouldn’t enter into your calculus at all.

So the crap you cry and moan about came under your generations reign, as the new and awful generation has not had a say in anything quite yet.

Now I’m not trying to start a ****ing match between the old and new guard here. Lord knows myself and almost all others appreciate what many have gone through to make this place what it is. To say newer pilots haven’t had to fight their own battles and have not experienced hardship is an absolute joke. Those things may not have occurred at UPS, but things do happen outside of this company.

Instead of judging and blaming others for your perceived wrongs, maybe you should stick to flying a plane.

I’m not judging any one junior. And as far as my generations “reign” some of our pilots were on the street for 4 years while this place made record profits. So “glory” days is your own joke.

Ask yourself this…do you fly the contract? To the letter? Do you make “deals” to get home because it’s better for “you”? Do you do “you” for yourself or for the IPA…THAT is what I’m taking about, not some self absorbed “newer” pilot garbage you speak of…

Take a look at the averages in the TA FAQ…do you even know what will be required to get anything done here? By your entitled drivel; I don’t think so. The old guard you speak of isn’t me, it’s the guys that came well before me (and you) and they made this place what it is by putting it all in the line to get you and I water on the jet. We can’t even muster a reasonable TA and you’re too busy wondering what’s in it for me than wondering why couldn’t we do any better…..

Wait until this place truly shows you what it’s made of…your head will spin.

God I miss Jungle….

I’m 109% IPA, what are you?

Carry on…..

I’ve worked 2 extra days in my career here and never even attempted to make any deals. You don’t know a thing about me, but that doesn’t stop the “entitled” attack while you put yourself on a pedestal. There’s a word for that…

You’re 109% IPA, just not IPA EB. You also come across as a bit off emotionally, so it’s best I disengage on this one. Good luck to you.

Mediators look at what other pilots make in order to drive both sides towards an “industry standard” contract. So far United is the only other company to come to a TA and it raises rates to what our TA does, only faster. So the mediator would point at them, at FedEx making only $331/hr, and tell us that we are being unreasonable. Personally, I do think entering negotiations right after we have picketed in support of Teamsters would be a time of max leverage. However, the folks we chose to handle this say that wouldn’t play out the way I desire. My choices are to either believe the guys we chose to do this or reject their decision making process. If I do the latter, I should be advocating for a new EB. I’m not there yet.

The thing that truly amazes me is the pilot profession, at least as it relates to the airlines, has never been in a stronger negotiating position, huge leverage, hundreds of flights cancelled daily, dropping requirements to get anyone with a pulse, etc, and the United ALPA NC actually agrees to that humongous piece of turd? I can only imagine what they would have agreed to if it was the 2000’s again!!

While I don’t agree with our proposed extension, there is ample logic behind it. The UNITED TA has zero logic. All the years wasted only to present that POS proposal to the membership, in this environment. Unbelievable.
