the naïveté is charming.

Now when you say that FQS pay is not much better than an IPA F/O, is that before or after the company shorted so many IPA pilots on their paychecks that the union had to send a mass communication about it?

Default Rumors

Speaking of FQS..well sourced rumor (via a FQS who’d be in the position to know) says we’re hiring ~200 this year, restarting in April or May.

An FQL position is not the same as management at other companies. You do sell your soul, you fly to FAR limits, ask how high when they say jump, move domiciles on a whim (and pack up your life to go with it), and do it all with a smile, or you’ll be fired without them thinking twice. The guys I’ve talked to recently don’t admit it to a common line guy, but you can tell they’re merely a puppet and they have no control over the strings. They look beat down and ashamed, to the point I almost feel sorry for them. Most of them are cordial and we return the courtesy, but they eat alone on the road and in the cafeterias. Make no mistake, you are a total company pawn, and with all the hiring going on these days, you’ll deserve whatever misery you put yourself through pursuing this opportunity.

WOW, not sure where to start on this misinformed statement. Obviously not a pilot here.

It is obvious many in management make big $. In the form of Stock. Many, many retire way before age 65. Which proves my earlier point. But one does have to sell one’s soul to achieve this early retirement.

Those are the guys who have been around a while. Things are not so great for the recent hires.

If your contemplating a position as management. Just listening to the comments here should give you reason to maybe pivot or at least make a real informed decision. I don’t always agree with the IPA. But I surely wouldn’t want to be without them.

Given our board seems to be in the running for stalest board on APC 😂, here is a recycled post from a few years back that might be of interest to some, given the recent posts on this thread.
