Junior ones are from Janurary class. Pretty impressive.

John Im on the Bro and I fly with the Bose A20. I also flew on the B1900 with it and the headset is worth the money ($1200) for the turboprops. I attempted to fly with passive Dave Clarks in the beginning and at the end of the day I was fried.

If you're gonna be on the CRJ that's probably a whole different story. Im sure some of the jet guys can chime in.

When do you start class? Bro or CRJ?

Just saw that March '14 hire got awarded the 175. Be careful of bidding it though if you are new. It could succumb you to a long time on reserve when senior FO's figure out where they'll stand.

Looks like the June bid packet shows the 175 going to ATL, MSP, BOS, LGA, and DCA. All out of ORD.

Same story with the jet, the DC just didn't cut it...

This is very good news. I'm halfway between lax and psp. I could make either work with a 2 hour callout.

that can't be right, the most junior ER7 transition is a Aug 13 hire.

Thoughts on traditional headset versus the lightweight models? Noise cancelling - active or passive? Not sure how loud an airliner cockpit is
The CRJ isn't loud until it starts to get above M.77. Some guys take off their headsets during cruise.

When it come to headsets you'll hear a lot of opinions. It's best to start with what type of headset you like, i.e. Over-ear, On-ear or In-ear. Each type will have it's advantages/disadvantages. Once you have that figured out find reviews for the models within that type. Most manufactures have a 30 day money back guarantee so you can try them out and see what you think.

As for traditional? vs lightweight, I'd try to find lightweight. A lightweight headset will make days with long legs or multiple legs (are there any other kind of days?) less fatiguing. I use a passive noise canceling headset. It saves on battery costs, but I lose any savings by having to buy foam ear plugs. What type of headset really comes down to what you prefer.

I personally wouldn't spend $1,200 on a pair of headsets. Although I've never used the Bose A20, U-Fly-Mike is half the cost and more versatile (commuting, deadheading, etc.) Plus, you're likely to go through a few different pairs of headsets throughout your career so why start by spending $1,200?

Good luck and Welcome to SkyWest!

U fly Mike setup with the Bose is good and not too expensive. Around $500 or so for the whole setup. A lot of RJ pilots use them.

There is absolutely no way I would go back to a DC setup as heavy as they are compared to Bose/UFly.

I used the Bose on the bro and it was great. When I went to the CRJ I switched to a Clarity Aloft and I love it. I probably wouldn't use the Clarity on the Bro but it's great on the CRJ.
