Are people still failing orals for not memorizing the entire IAC like it was when i was there 3 years ago? I fully agree that coming prepared to a training event should be expected of anyone but of these 50% failures, what percentage of those are for dumb stuff like that? No other carriers ask a lot of these dumb questions like awac still does. Yet the people I fly with at 9e, albeit sometimes kinda green are good qualified pilots that I’m comfortable letting them be at the controls. There needs to be standards but when you have a 50% washout rate and other places are around 10-20, and on top of that there is a staffing issue. You’d think a memo would go out telling people like JO to cool it with their ego trips.

Just out of curiousity does that 81% number include people that resign prior to a checkride failure occurring?

Overall (class to class can vary) I have been told that this year 81% of all newhires pass to IOE and get signed off. So, I guess the answer is yes. It's what I've been told when I asked directly.

When I talk to new hires, most of the class gets through. One guy recently did have a high number fail out in his class. The other variant is I fly with a lot of fo's simply going elsewhere. Many retired military headed to the majors. Some just don't like the qol.

I was going to post the same thing but I have been waiting to get some creditable info. I directly asked an assistant chief and a LCA who does the sims - both said it’s about 20% washout rate.
The misconception is when the pay day hotline comes out and has a high number of 27xxx numbers on the resignation list. People assume they are all training resignations.
They are not all failures/washouts. We are hiring 10-20% retired military pilots who are moving on once they get 300-500 hours of recent currency. We sent about 5 to Delta in the past 2 months alone. Plus the low 27xxx numbers have been on property 12-15 months. Those are not washouts. Even the mid 27xxx numbers are 7-10 months in. Even with extra sims, a check ride failure, retraining, second check ride and say 4-5 IOE trips and not able to get signed off- it would only take 6 - 7 months. So they may not be washouts either at this point.

That's not newbie's washing out of training, that's trained personnel making the decision it's a crappy place to work and they are going to go somewhere else.
That's scarcely reassuring to the newbie looking to apply.
