That was always the plan. The Jan 31 and May 1 bids were to ramp up for the summer flying schedule. The fall schedule sees a reduction in the Bus. The Airbus is going to have continued reductions, starting from the next bid that opens SFO Boeing. This was from the CP conference call when he was asked if it was inefficient to be doing this with the Airbus fleet (upgrade, transition people only to have them reduced).

Then why offer the previous award in the first place?

You are congratulating the company for being shrewd while they jerk us all around.

For the bolstered Airbus flying from last year through Summer 2022.

August 2022 Bus fleet between 34-42 but by August 2023 it is 20-23. No matter which way you slice it, they had to increase the staffing on the Bus through this Summer and now start displacing it. I would hope anyone who bid it did so knowing they would be displaced.

Dec 2023 is 10-14 Buses.

.
The May awards aren't even in training yet. If they get bounced in this displacement they won't even go to school.

Tell me again how they're going to be available for the summer?

That’s the $100 question. Not sure. At least they get CA pay on May 1st.

You and I work for different airlines. The company will say the new award supercedes the previous. Any pay raise will be canceled.

Could be they just set the table so they could ramp up for summer if needed. Even with omicron, general consensus is that omicron will be over with as a wave in a few months.

Because you don’t understand how it works… Effective date🙄. They can still train and still fly as a CA all summer and then their effective reduction would be September 1, which they could also extend 60 days longer if they needed them. I am not going to argue it’s the best way, but the bus departure is going to produce some weird outcomes over the next 18mos. This summer is a bandaid. We will have 10 Airbus on property by late fall of 2023.

Wonder what will happen with those 10. Sell to AA? Get back to single fleet just in time for the B6 merger.
