I had one last Monday and had a similar experience as others have had. It lasted 10 minutes was very conversational and covered basic questions about my qualifications. As others have said, I was encouraged to apply again when the window opens on the Alaska Airlines website.

Any word on when the window will open?

I was hoping to update my resume and times on SmartRecruiters prior to WIA but I can't seem to be able to do that.

You cannot update it, you just have to do it again. click on the link they sent you and "i'm interested" again, reenter everything.

I got the phone chat invitation back in early January when the process first started. I looked up the person who did the chat and found that the person I spoke to was not an Alaska employee. She appeared to work for Randstad and she was calling from Atlanta. I don't think the chat means you are on any short list, it's just a new way to for Alaska to screen and sort its applicants.
