Once again, please keep this thread to hiring questions and factual answers. We have other threads for speculation and complaining.

Hello, I am new to the forum. Does Alaska require the COVID vaccine for new hire pilots?

When I was there, the one email I answered about my so-called status, I told them that’s none of their business & Flt Ops has a copy of my first class medical. They quit emailing me after a couple tries. I didn’t seek an accommodation either.

Does Alaska ever hire Horizon pilots outside Pathways (eg direct hire) or are they “blacklisted”? I want to remain in the PNW, but I have a CJO from a legacy. It’s seems crazy to turn down the opportunity but I’ve been “under review” with AS since December. Background: QX FO 900hr, 3700 TT, mil PIC time, thought I had a great meet and greet.

IIRC they've actually been pretty good about the whole thing. Not mandated when others did, and then they half-heartedly kind of drug their feet in that direction when the fed mandated it for 121. I'm pretty sure they would have offered generous exemptions if it came to that.

Congrats. I am not sure the answer to your question, but just wanted to recommend that you go to the Legacy that offered the CJO, and do the commute. Seniority is very important, as you know. If you really want to go to Alaska then keep your app updated, but at least in the meantime you will be at a destination airline.

Delta never mandated it either.

The “feds” never mandated it, the president made an executive order saying that if you want govt contracts you had to require it of your employees.

Default Applicant Question

I have my application in, although I dont meet hiring requirements yet (Active Duty mil, riding a desk for the next 1.5 years). I'll keep updating it as I knock out the requirements.
My question is whether it's worth joining the Alaska Talent management system? It appears to be separate and distinct from the hiring website. Would the recruiting folks not just provide updates to the email address on the application?
Thanks!

We all know that it was a de facto mandate since pretty much all large airlines have .gov contracts, and none were in a financial position to tell .gov to take their money and shove off at the time. Yes it was over-reach, and the system worked and it got tossed out. But airlines did have to react to it for a while, and they took different approaches.

If you're passionate about the subject and job hunting, might want to consider which airlines did what. For example:
AA handed out generous exemptions to all comers, effectively offering a work-around to the gov mandate.
AS did not mandate it on their own, and they slow-rolled the .gov mandate.
UA mandated it unilaterally, before .gov did.
