With the notable exception of Alaska. Which is the point.

Yet here you guys are. Must not be that bad. Maybe Alaska has more pilots with depression than the rest of the airlines. Is that something caused by the weather in Seattle?

The grass is always greener.

I am relatively happy here, but it is for sure not perfect. My buddy is on the 75/76 at UAL in SFO. He has moved 2 spots in 4 years. Spirit is gone. JB is next. If you really need a meteoric movement through a company, by all means, go to Delta or United, but don't be surprised when they send WARN notices to 6,000 pilots if crap really hits the fan.

Go where you will be happy. Life is too short, and we spend too much time at our jobs, to be miserable while we do it.

Alaska, as an airline, was anti-jumpseat it seemed. I remember the drama when VX merged. At VX, it was never even a question. We took two in the jump and would never refuse that. It was so bad on the Alaska side that other airlines were targeting and refusing AS pilots in the JS, and JS committees had to get involved. I have met a few CAs who refuse to let anyone in the JS. Alaska is the ONLY airline where I have heard anything about refusing JS.

It's not about what they think, it's about why they think it. The career stagnation is bad enough, if that was offset by great work rules and an above average hourly it would be ok, but it's not.
exactly. This was the intent of my comment

Your comment was hyperbole, conjecture and exaggeration. The perceived intent was to do a sad dear diary post while saying you’d rather stay here than commute to a different airline.

surprised you can’t understand the intent of what I’m saying. It had nothing to do with narcissism or caring what others think but rather why they think it directly pertaining to our compensation and time off. Example: friend at Southwest made 13% less than me last year at exact same longevity and 1 month apart date of hire. We had different motives. I picked up a lot of straight pay (mostly all that was available or all that I was legal for) while he occasionally picked up the juicy stuff here and there. Only difference is I worked 31% more days than him. That’s a big, big difference over the length of a career, especially since even at southwest, he will still likely upgrade before me and we were hired 1 month apart.

Now I’m not saying we need all that value built into our next contract. But we need a big chunk of it.

call it what you want. I just want to work for the same as my peers. In some subrect matter, we exceed them and that’s great, but in most we don’t. There is a reason there was a mass exodus at this place under the existing contract. People voted with their feet. Doesn’t sound like your into advocating for what’s best for our pilot group. And yes, I have zero interest in commuting, But the two are very different subjects.

If you see my post history you can see that I have been advocating for many things that are good for our pilot group. You seem to confuse complaining and advocating. Saying that people say “what is wrong with you for going to Alaska” is not productive or useful. I advocate that everyone educates themselves the best they can on the current Hawaiian PWA and the current Alaska CBA. That way when we get a JCBA to vote on we can make an informed decision. If the JCBA is not up to standard then we will have clear and coherent reasoning why it isn’t. Complaining about how delta and united currently have it better and then voting based off Pay Rates only is not the way. Educate yourself on the contracts and use that education to advocate for what’s best for us. That’s what I have been doing.

Junior pilots left.

I know for an absolute fact that pilots were standing up in SWA indoc and walking out to go to the big 3. It's how it goes.
