Add to the above the intangibles such as, oh, I don't know, the freakish disrespect for pilots, disregard of work rules, lies, broken promises, deception, running pilots and the operation into the dirt, extreme understaffing, 'we schedule-you fly' (Merlot), accountability without authority, outsourcing, sub servicing, shoddy maintenance & support, crappy training, crickets for communications. Tell me when to stop. Short answer: a humiliating kick in the sack.

How disheartening that American corporate culture has taken this diabolical approach.

Capitalism is an awesome thing when fused with ethics - everyone wins when businessmen seek profits but do it part-in-parcel to building something worth building.

What your company is doing to you guys is pure evil! As in 'Strait from Satan!'

I hate it, and I'm personally sick and tired of watching a great nation founded on principle by principled men transformed into something grotesque by men without conscience.

What you're experiencing is a symptom of a much greater sickness in our land. And though I'd be wrong to call it indentured servitude, it must be a close cousin. What else do you call it when the malevolently powerful exploit their fellow humans without conscience?

Very true. We are a miniature version of Wall Street leading up to the 2008 collapse. Unchecked and unregulated greed will be the downfall of both this company and the nation as a whole. It needs to be reigned in NOW. Capitalism in itself isn't evil, but there has to be boundaries.

It used to be corporations had a moral compass, were involved with community, and generally operated to make a quality product or service with the customer in mind.

But something happened in the last decade or two where corporations (by law now?) have to do everything for the benefit of the shareholder. But all that does is create a race to the bottom where nothing is ever planned in advance, the only thing anyone cares about is this quarters earnings.

Yep, Tom & CLMP, I agree. We need a new word added to today's lexicon to define this type of nasty profeteerism. Give it a name and we can educate against it.

How this all pans out for the pilots of G4 will set a precedence that wil affect us all, to either encourage or discourage these would be future MBA jack nuts.

I support you G4 pilots with all my heart! Very best of luck - stay strong - and fight like hell for what is just, fair, and right.

To accept anything less is in itself equally immoral.

It's enlightening that in the last few decades many businesses haven't been focused on making a better widget, only a cheaper one, and they do it by outsourcing, foreign labor sources, and squeezing labor for all it's worth. It's like the way dollar stores are putting the hurt on Walmart the way Walmart had put the hurt on sears etc.

In the past airlines like ALG would be snuffed out during the next oil spike as you can only wring so many dollars out of recycled aircraft, questionable mx, "cheap" labor and an unsupported operation.
But if ALG doesn't change their ways, eventually their labor will finally get fed up on such substandard treatment and they will suffer a labor shortage.
The only thing that has kept the regional companies from imploding is that they all treat their pilots in a crappy manor, the difference at ALG is that their pilots will have a choice to stay or leave.
Best of luck.

So I've been asking around about the topic of management pilots flying during a strike. It sounds as this may have been acceptable in the past, 60s, 70s, 80s. It seems the Spirit strike has changed this however, not one Spirit pilot, management or not, crossed the line. I feel that ANYONE who flies struck work is a scab, anyone. I'm curious as to the intentions of our managment pilots. Thought/Opinions?

I know of at least one management pilot at OH that crossed to reposition some planes, & was excoriated afterwards 'till his retirement just a couple years after the strike.

Chances are Spirit just ceased all flight operations, thereby creating a situation where nobody could fly an airplane even if they wanted to. Also, I think modern strikes (such as Flight Attendants) only strike particular flights or days, therefore not crippling the entire company.
