The previous posts are still accurate. The latest new hire class had both Airbus and MD80 guys in Florida. Be aware that if you are junior in the new hire class you WILL be going to the TDY base. Several of the most junior pilots in that class got assigned the TDY base and I have heard most are not happy with it.

Just remember if you come here be prepared to walk the picket line with us. It looks as though that may be a possibility sooner rather than later.

I have been reading this thread for a while, and truthfully it has deterred me from applying. It seems as though my airline might be on the brink of closing doors. Going to a regional for me would suck major ***. I really wasn't thinking of applying here because of what I read, but lately things at my place are getting worse. If a new hire came online only to enter a strike situation within a few months, what would that dynamic look like?
I am not one to cross a picket line, but on probation status within first year, isn't that pretty much saying you might as well resign if you don't take the flight?

We don't have "probation status".

My understanding of strikes and new hires is that with a return to work agreement that ends a strike that it also includes the new hires on the property less than a year in that case (work hostages?). It would make no sense to agree to come back and screw over those who supported the cause.

So what I think you're saying is that the Union would make it a priority, in the negotiations that end the strike, to insist the company bring back probationary new-hires that refused to cross the picket line and were subsequently fired, if there were any.

This is what this thread seemed to indicate: Hypothetical Probation/strike question | Jetcareers

I'm assuming this is common and expected in such situations, right?

Sorry to post a link to the competition APC :/

You have to have a pwa to have a probation status. Everyone at will employee at this point. Cohesiveness of group in strike situation will determine success or failure.

Thanks for clearing that up. As of now I live in FLL and am flying the -80. I would have applied to Allegiant much earlier had it not been for the information I have read on this site. Now I may be in a position where Allegiant may be one of the only places to really go. Being employed by a "36th street airline" or miami area group of carriers, is something I will avoid to the last hour.

You won't have to worry about it. If there is a strike, most likely all flights will be suspended.

We’re all “at will”, since there is no contract. So, we’re all on probation. This company can’t fly itself out of a wet paper bag when the chips are down. So, no worries.

Well I just submitted my application. I'm trying to read as much of this thread as I can. Seems completely sh***y. If I didn't think my place was on the brink of closing doors, as in, week late paychecks and months late Perdiem etc. I would have steered clear. I just can't afford, and will NOT go back to a regional. (Hopefully) I think I'm short on time though, shy of 3k but about 800 right sea to the -80.
