Thanks for any insight.
I was on the 80 for 3 years, then went to the AB. Honestly being on the AB is like being at a different airline. There isn't as many maintenance problems as the 80 has. Then when there is a problem the severity of the problem isn't what the 80 has. The aircraft itself is easy to fly. I have yet to sweat in the Airbus. It may be 105 degrees outside and the cockpit is a comfy 72. Passengers don't have to close the shades to keep the airplane cool, in the Airbus I feel like I'm flying at a real airline. I fly four legs in it and don't feel tired at all. In the 80 I felt exhausted after 4 leg days. The training in the AB is much better than the 80. We have "Allegiantized" it so it may not be as good as other airlines, but it is better than the 80 here. I would NEVER go back to the 80. I don't care if it would be the difference of being the #1 CA on the 80 or the most Jr in the AB, I would pick AB everytime. If you are looking for a quality of life boost and stay at Allegiant, I would pick Airbus. Of course I am sure someone will tell you how horrible the Airbus is here, but from my experiences of comparing life on the Allegiant 80 to life on the Allegiant AB, I prefer AB.

Thanks for that input. For those on the outside looking in everything here at G4 is separated. Pilots across the board (on all equipment) can't really see what is going on in other bases or seats. In other words, as a MD80 FO in say? IWA I can't see anything in the scheduling or system except for myself and other IWA 80 FOs. Our software gives you the option of blocking your schedule so others can't view it as well. Hell, if your an FO you can't even see other CA's schedules in base either.

This also needs to be remedied with a contract.

Overheard today on Jax Center...

"Allegiant 878, understand you need to return to St. Pete?"

"Jax Center, that's affirmative."

"Uhhh... Ok. And what's the reason?"

...

...

"Um, company convenience"

"Company convenience?"

...

"Yeah. If we land at destination our airplane will be AOG..."

"OK then, company convenience then. Turn to heading..."

Allegiant Air (G4) #878 ? 28-Aug-2015 ? KPIE - KPIE ? FlightAware
haha wow. Well took a peek at the flight, looks like those passengers are taking about a 3 hour delay in total. Kinda crazy, but not super terrible, particularly for a G4 tail swap.

In other news, an interesting run of diversions last night:

IWA-FSD-OMA-FSD-GFK.

Whatever happened to the managment hacks who declared an emergency at FAR?

That elevator issue is insanely scary. Mad props to the captain for choosing the high speed abort. It was a judgment call, and a guy there was just fired for making a judgment call with that evacuation.

I wonder if this guy will get fired for a judgment call.

So the answer is; nothing happened ref the "capt bingo fuel" issue. Why? Because, blame was scattered elsewhere, and the FAA simply won't look further than what AAY tells them. There are too many steps for the FAA to take. If AAY only provides minimum details, as long as the FAA can show an honest mistake, then GB continues on!
As for the flight control issue. AAY has told the press and FAA that this too, was a mere one time event. They have inspected each aircraft, and there is no problem.......so,
Come on FAA; how many MD80 flights were cancelled/postponed for the critical fleet inspection? Oh wait, the answer is NONE! Why? Because there was no true inspection. If so....here it is....
AAY pilots.....have you seen one entry in your aircraft logbook of this so called inspection? I doubt it. Why? It has already been swept under the rug. I'd like to know if the out stations even have tail inspection capability? It's a fairly high tail.....have you seen a scissor lift at your base behind each and every md80 since the incident?
No logbook entry of these so called inspections; most stations without capability of even looking closely at the tail; but hey.......stock price is up!
Thanks FAA.....you're doing a great job!

In IWA they checked every MD 80 the night after the incident with a scissor lift. Don't know about the other bases but that is a bold statement to make on a public forum if it turns out to be false. Again, you don't have to go off into la la land.
The mechanical that happened on the LAS to PIA is VERY disturbing. But to say Allegiant is lieing about checking the other aircraft... Without knowing the facts.... Very unprofessional. That is one thing Allegiant can't take from us but sadly some people will give that away and post something to sensasualize .
