Should I be lucky enough to finish groundschool, but am awarded a base other that LA, how do crews typically cope with commuting? Or do they go home only on scheduled off days?

Thanks much for the info. Very helpful. I have a house in LA, so am painfully aware of COL.

Don't even think about commuting. 90% of the negative QOL issues are caused by commuting & upgrading asap and making yourself junior. Even an "easy" commute like LAX/BUR - LAS is going to have you gone a min. of 4 nights a week, even if you're senior.

Hey guys, I have a few Allegiant Questions.
1) I'm scheduled for a phone interview on Friday, and was wondering what this screening entails?
2) I'm sitting very comfortably as an FO at a large stable regional right now with decent seniority, and am looking into Allegiant because I'm curious what other opportunities are out there before I eventually head over to a major. Would anyone in my position consider hoping over to Allegiant or any other LCC?
3) I have some family in PHX so I was wondering if anyone gets IWA as a new hire? If I got east coast, is the transfer process pretty easy and would I be able to get IWA relatively soon? Is BLI very senior?
4) With all of the negative media Allegiant seems to get about unsafe conditions, and rude passengers and staff, what's your real world opinion of this media from the side of being an Allegiant employee? Is the fleet just dumping bolts and rivets down every runway they operate on?

IWA - some folks do get IWA right off the bat; hit or miss. The older you are the better since seniority in class goes by age and will give you a better shot at getting what you want. Right now, subject to change, it is probable that if you didn't get it right off the bat it wouldn't be too long.
BLI- the most senior base in the system - you might slip in right at the bottom but won't move up much and upgrade will be
a decade +.
Read through the thread so you understand what being junior at Allegiant means. You want to get somewhere you can move up fast, and don't upgrade for several years regardless if you have the seniority unless you want to be junior again.
As for the last, I've always been of the opinion you (pilot group, union) don't play the safety card in the media. I'm obviously in the minority.

Thanks! Have you been at Allegiant for a while? I met Allegiant at a career fair and they said they may see 1000+ pilots by the end of the year. If that's true it may be a good time to get in.
