It's true. It has happened. Not saying you won't get paid eventually. It's just the new tactic to get you to take the extension.

They've asked numerous guys to extend half way thru the day. Some even before they start because they are running 4-5 hrs late. They aren't supposed to but it happens. Quite a bit. And they do try to coerce you by saying you won't be pay protected if you don't extend.

Just in the last five years G4 by percentage has terminated enough captains that would be equal to thousands at a carrier the size of say Delta. We had a captain terminated and accused of leaking proprietary company information via screen shots to the media. Forget about due process and evidence, he and you have no right to it. And no recourse. The mere suspicion by our management and in particular our system chief pilot is all that is warranted.

If crew scheduling EVER says they will not pay you for not taking an extension. Write down the time, take a screen shot with your phone (to prove they called you)refuse the extension for fatigue and then hang up and call the FAA to have them run the tapes.
Calling BS on your story Mister I changed my name because I lost all credibility with my old one. (Are you the one who was complaining that you are a commuter and not home every night?)

Bro. Not me. And the name, nothing to do with APC cred. Let me ask you a question, do you think it's ok to have to talk to a duty pilot for not extending? no where in the regs does it say you have to provide a reason, yet we are intimidated with this every time. Call it BS until you or someone you know is in that situation.

Guys I would like to add some holiday fun. I am happy when contract maintenance actually bothers to install the cotter pin on the tail assembly. I am happy when I am actually not under paid every month. I am happy when I am being trained by the testing department. I am happy when I don't have to perform algebraic equations to make an MEL legal. I am happy when I am not terminated for acting in the best interest of my passengers. I am happy when I am not wrongly accused by management for taking screen shots and giving them to the media. I am happy when I don't get smoke in the cabin. I am happy when I get an md motor that wont fall off..

Cheers

Can a new hire get LAS MD-80 out of training these days?

This may be true, but save for maybe 2 guys the rest deserved to be fired and had no business working here.

If your intimidated for telling a duty pilot you will not extend because you are fatigued I hope your not a captain here. And yes I have refused extensions and got paid for them. Me, personally, I just tell them I'm fatigued and then either go to the hotel or drive home. It is BS that are crew schedulers might want you to talk to a duty pilot but I just tell them go ahead, connect me to them so I can tell them I'm fatigued (It's always ended there). No one here in management will tell you to go if you drop the "F" bomb. And for all of you that say they will, report them to the FAA if it happens and it will be their last time doing it.
