Honest question.

Do you believe management decided to let pilots sit for a month here and there?

Yes, FP&A is a revered department in G4. There are plenty of A320 sims available around America and the world, and if needed they could be utilized. Even Mesa, the pinnacle of cheapness, has often sent pilots to Denmark for CRJ training. It's all been actuaried out and can change any time.

Not to be too condescending but your first post regarding Allegiant was five months ago. I've been here for years. Unlikely there is a plan for allowing pilots to sit at home paid for over a month.

Again I apologize for seeming like I have been there and done that. I know how that sounds to a pilot coming from a regional to Allegiant. However the fact remains that much of our operation is run by reaction versus planning.

Things are slowly improving and strides being made to correct these issues. Soon we hope to see both a contract and proper infrastructure. That day has yet to be realized though.

No offense taken, I'm sure if you told guys 2 years ago that the company would be paying for months of paid hotel rooms and rental cars for new hires and VBD, that would seem far fetched as well. Hopefully things will continue to move towards the right direction.

Rainbows and unicorns. The company continues to dumb down the process, looking to make things merely good enough rather than training people to the appropriate level. They just lost their two best -80 ground instructors, one quitting due to the lack of integrity shown in that department, the other was apparently left to die on the vine, they never even demonstrated enough common courtesy of telling him they didn't need him any longer. They had to type a bunch of -80 guys, FOs who hadn't typed when they first showed up. They had no syllabus...lied to the FOs about what the training was going to be like, the sim instructors didn't have a clue what was happening and several people bought pink slips, for no better reason than they refuse to do more than the minimum "required"...there will be no change because of who is running the show. Penny wise and pound foolish...

Default Training

Is it worth driving your car to training? I've heard mention of rental cars once you start the sim. How long is the ground school portion up to that point?

Thanks

Amazing but the next post is from a fresh meat eager beaver ready to start.

Maybe getting a job at alg is like landing a date with Jennifer Anniston. It all looks good from the outside and in your imagination but the long term reality is not so palatable to some.

Just read any of the LCC threads. They all the complaints sound exactly the same and yet are still considered better than the regionals.
