This will be a good test of the corruptibility of the FAA. Does the FAA have to cozy a relationship? Have key figures been payed off? If Allegiant comes away with no measures taken, then that will be the answer. A good start would be a 60 day suspension of the MEL.

If Colgan was allowed to continue operations after Hyannis and prior to them becoming ALPA, and after 3407, you already have your answer

You’re so jaded Bus, I kid and totally get that. And we have one of the cagiest ceo’s in the business. With a straight face MG actually disavowed any and all responsibility for Valujet. “A contractor did it”, ya right. Spending millions to pay off government officials and on FH attorneys is the one thing he spends the cash on.

Stok1, are you prepared to prove those accusations if you should be sued for libel? WOW!! That's over the top even by my standards.

If I might be allowed to give you some dual on this topic, it might be best to preface your statements with something like "in my opinion" or "the way I see it".

You should consider a retraction.

Hey FirstClass, thanks for the advice. Let's see retraction, Nah, not going to happen. And standby for more at my leisure. Sued for libel? Good luck with that, all roads lead to Rome.

Stok,
I wouldn't put too much hope in the FAA doing much as they have a dual mandate to regulate and "promote" aviation in the US. That makes them shakedown the companies that can pay with fines and "work with" the companies that cut so many corners their flying in circles.

I'm afraid you are mistaken. After the crash of ValuJet 592, President Clinton signed the FAA Reauthorization Act of 1996. In the act, the dual mandate was removed.

Today's mandate reads as follows -"provide the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world." Nowhere does the words 'promote aviation' appear any longer.

Ask your management, I think some of them managed ValuJet if I'm not mistaken.

Well then.... I guess we'll just see if the FAA is as concerned about ALG's maintenance practices as the pilots seem to be.
