People... please contact your union reps and demand the union work with the FAA to force the company to repeal their new questionable FDP policy and remove E.G. from his position of authority. The company now expects us to accept any FDP extension necessary and has stated a refusal of the extension is now considered a fatigue event. This was never the intent of part 117 and should not be allowed to stand.. don't let our snake of a flight ops VP and his chronies intimidate and manipulate us. Please remember the FDP extension is your prerogative and only yours, do not be scared of our cowardly management.

This EXACT thing just happened at my airline (PSA) as well. Our CP told us in recurrent last week that this is totally and completely legal. But I agree with you. It's unbelievable.

The FAA has long since stated this is acceptable policy. At my previous airline (ZW) we fought this long and hard only to have the FAA side with the airline. What it boils down too is a pay issue. If we were paid for fatigue calls we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.

Maybe the union should have had something in the contract about extensions.....this is a standard practice and accepted by the FAA. You sign the release, you are good for your day plus any legal extension.

I don't think anyone who is competitive at Delta is considering Allegiant.

Flying the MD80 out of LGA and flying at Allegiant have almost nothing in common except the plane. It's a completely different job. Right now Allegiant actually pays more in some seats/years than Delta on the 80 but after the new contract, if they make more then they deserve it.

There are plenty of people here/interested in coming here who would be competitive at a legacy. But why commute, wait (most likely) longer to upgrade, and spend half of the month in hotels when you could be home every night and still make good money?

A ton of guys here would be competitive at Delta. However, most choose not to go… weird.

If I lived in SLC, I would try “big league” for Delta. If I lived in Sarasota, I would try “big league” for Allegiant. If I didn't mind commuting, I'd try "big league" for the company that gives me the easiest commute. Is it that strange that some people don’t want to commute to NYC to fly an 80?

The FAA doesn't care:
