You were speaking of FOs being uncomfortable flying with Captains with less time than them.

I replied that the majority of Captains have over 10,000 TT.

Many of us came here after one or more other airlines... and many of the Captains here have been on property before 2010.

I feel it should be made clear that most Captains at Allegiant have earned their stripes.

Well the Senior ones or (in the middle) peeps probably do. But the captains I've flown with that are junior have less time that I have. And waaaaay less over all experience. But I do agree. Bc of the quick upgrades (recently) the company looks for experienced FO's and FO's that will support, and not try to "over throw" or as I call it "measure their d***s" with the captains. At the end of the day we have a mission, and we have to be professional.

I'll agree and disagree with this one. With all due respect, and I'm not trying to argue. Just give my two cents.

I agree- If you live in Base, yes.. QOL will be night and day if you decide to commute. Now let me point out the variables...

IF you are married and have a spouse that just CANNOT manage with you being gone, or doesn't want to move with you, or you do not have the full support, then commuting, allegiant or pretty much ANY airline where you have to commute will not be the best choice for you. Hell the airline industry won't be the best choice if you're not willing to "pay the price" for being junior.

If you're single but still want to commute, then you better not be the type that gets worked up about little things, rumours, or can't handle being junior for a bit. Simple as that.

I Disagree-

Many people came to allegiant, MANY in my class that applied bc they already lived in a base only to find out they couldn't hold that base when hired. Yes yes I know, they will hold it at some point. But until then, many were still bummed about it. So it goes back to, they (you) just have to suck it up and make it work until you can hold the base you want, or move yourself and/or family.

Many people I have flown with including my self commute, and we make it work.

Are we getting as much time off as we want? hell no. Can I commute every time I'm off? NOPE.

BUT, my wife and I try to make it work. If I get enough days off in a row i'll go home, if I don't my wife will fly in and visit me with my kids.

I have my own personal reasons why I'm still commuting. One is that I still have a business back home that I need to figure out what I'm going to do with, secondly I'm waiting for the "dust to settle" meaning for the fleet to transition to mainly airbus so i can decide where I want to move.

Is it easy? nah. But It was my choice to come here, I thought about it long and hard. Now I'm here and I have to stick with it, and not ***** and moan. Like any place I know it's about seniority.

As far as VBD? For me VBD works great because I commute. WHY? because I get a hotel and rental car while on VBD. So it helps me out tremendously to not pay for crashed or transportation.

At the end of the day, chose wisely. Be comfortable BEING UNCOMFORTABLE, bc like any other airline being junior sucks, but you have to man up, gut it out, and not be an entitled person. That's just my opinion and experience.

Good luck to anyone that wants to come here.

So far, i'm content with my decision.

Do they fly you pos space to your VBD, or is it up to you to get there?

To elaborate a little; you are purchased a positive space, round trip seat home once a month.

Hey guys,

I was going to go to the CVG Meet and Greet next week. The banner ad says that it is at Gate A10. Is there some method of getting past security for these things?

I tried clicking on the more info link, but it just sends you to your application link, unless I missed something.

Thanks for the help!

If you don't have a crew badge to get through security, you could buy a full fare ticket on someone and cash it in afterwards or you could roll the dice and stand by the KCM line with a sign that says "Need to speak to G4 CP."

If I was the guy doing the interviewing / hiring and someone bought a ticket to get through security, I would probably hire him assuming he was otherwise qualified.

I heard you can get a gate pass from the G4 counter to get to the meet n greet. Otherwise, buy a refundable ticket, checkin and refund after.
