I continuously see decisions and processes that make it seem as if every day is the first day in business at Allegiant. Without overnights, our exposure to the company's "cheap at all costs" way of doing business is far more limited than it would be if they had us under their thumb in a hotel room on an overnight...and that is one of the reasons that I really like it here.

I shudder to think what types "plans" crew members might find themselves subjected to if, just for example, there was a need for crew member at an outstation airport within driving distance of one's expected overnight. Imagine arriving at your expected overnight only to find a rental car reservation and driving directions...the possibilities at this company with a CBA jam-packed full of contractual "slights of hand" are endless.

I realize that opinions will vary widely, but I'm certainly of the opinion that we shouldn't be wishing for overnights. Right now, we have the best quality of life in the business; we don't want to screw that up.
Certainly not hoping for overnights. Can't beat this QOL. Just saying that if it was once in a while and the pay was worth it, I'm down.

Jude said they were looking at these "triangle" routes that would require an overnight. Something like IWA-MPVR-ICT or some other combination of Mexican route ending in the Midwest. He said that 90%+ of our flying would/will remain out and backs.

10% layovers would probably bid senior assuming they were productive. A lot would welcome an occasional layover (1 or 2 a month) and it would be just enough to significantly increase aircraft utilization. Its been a blessing to keep red-eye's off the table for the decade but a few will most likely return in several years. With that said, I don't see this place losing its top QOL rank anytime soon based on the competitive advantage of having mostly day trips.

Last time we did red eyes, a number of people (crazy if you ask me) loved them! I'm sure the same will be true this time.

Is LAX a safe base for the long-term? I believe they have closed it up before if I am not mistaken.

How long would it realistically take to get LAX for someone hired shortly after this summer?
How about Oak?

..I know there is a search button on this website, but base seniority changes often and I am just looking for up to-date info.
Thanks..

Realistically, you can hold either out of training as long as you get the Bus. I personally am not sure why we have either base. They both could be run from other bases. OAK is only 1 airplane and LAX is only 2 (3 in the summer). LAX seems like it is here for a while, but who knows.

With the now many destinations out of BWI, has it been discussed, rumored, etc to be brought into the fold as a base?

As of the last conference call (a week ago), BWI was not mentioned as a possible base, not brought up at all. If BWI were to happen, it would be a LONG time from now.

Austin, Indianapolis, and Cleveland. I forget the timeframe with these three... 2018 I think?
