I get what we do here, but I've always thought how much utilization we could be leaving on the table by not doing them. You could totally take a SFB (any FL based crew) say a flight to say Fargo, then a flight to Vegas or PHX and overnight. Then the next day, Vegas/PHX - Midwest station then back to base. I seriously doubt you would get many people ****ed off about a 1 overnight trip.
It will be exciting to see what destinations (Intl) we might be serving after the transition.

If they ever want to connect certain vacation destinations, specifically flying East/West, they will HAVE to consider overnights. They would rather add some overnights, then add passenger connections. Some people would be interested... If they could fly 6 hours-ish a day, with one overnight, it could be both productive and especially be something the few/rare commuters would be interested in.

I continuously see decisions and processes that make it seem as if every day is the first day in business at Allegiant. Without overnights, our exposure to the company's "cheap at all costs" way of doing business is far more limited than it would be if they had us under their thumb in a hotel room on an overnight...and that is one of the reasons that I really like it here.
I shudder to think what types "plans" crew members might find themselves subjected to if, just for example, there was a need for crew member at an outstation airport within driving distance of one's expected overnight. Imagine arriving at your expected overnight only to find a rental car reservation and driving directions...the possibilities at this company with a CBA jam-packed full of contractual "slights of hand" are endless.
I realize that opinions will vary widely, but I'm certainly of the opinion that we shouldn't be wishing for overnights. Right now, we have the best quality of life in the business; we don't want to screw that up.

The problem with overnights is that it adds an whole new element of company control over our lives. In addition to the types and location of hotels we'll be more available for reassignments and other schedule changes.

Well said. If I wanted overnights, I would go to an airline that had them. I spent many years in my career spending half the year in hotel rooms. I came here to get away from that lifestyle.

But does anyone really think we'll have the staffing or equipment for widespread overnights? Watching the Spirit debacle explode and knowing our own limitations...I can't see us getting to the point of all overnight style flying...
