Living in Florida 1.2hr outside SFB. Only concern is potential schedule / base award. FLL or SFB is my goal. Anyone have a sample schedule / bid?

I understand seniority will influence days on / off, but what can a junior FO somewhere in Florida be expected to have for a schedule? Hours flown a day? Days on / off? How hard is it getting required days off? Swapping / trading trips? Do you have to use all vacation time at once?

Thank you kindly in advance for the read and any responses are very much appreciated. -Happy Contrails
How many hours do you live from GRR?

Probably not going to be an issue for him... There were 41 open Florida spots on the current new hire bid. 12 were for SFB and 7 FLL (along with 11 each in PIE & PGD). It is likely there will be a couple of Florida spots left for him when his class comes around. That's not counting any new spots that open up when the FO spots open from the BNA/ABE upgrade bid in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the response and info. About sums it up. For the schedule though, I'm wondering about days worked in a row followed by days off. E.G. 4 on 3 off; 3 on 3 off; etc. I imagine it can vary significantly depending on base, but just trying to gauge what can be expected roughly for worst case scenarios.

This information has been posted previously...

I haven't seen anyone mention working 4 on/3 off. Seems more like 2/1 , 3/1, and 3/2 are more normal. On another post a base-senior FO mentioned working Mon-Wed every week (3on/4off), but that wouldn't be as likely for someone living in a small base or someone junior.

That being said, I'd love to see some actual schedules, as well, especially for the smaller bases.

From.what I know Tuesday and Saturday are kind of dead days for flying thus those type of schedules

Thank you kindly. I guess I'll just have to narrow down FLL or SFB. Both seem like they'll be available.

If either of those works for you, I can tell you that climbing the seniority ladder in FLL will be a heck of a lot faster than SFB.

Both are feasible. Makes sense. If given the option though what's better? Bigger base or smaller base? I would guess pay is better at a bigger base due to more routes and VFN opportunities. Schedule probably better at a smaller base. Sound accurate?

I live in the NJ area, how easy would it be or until how long I can expect to hold ABE(Allentown,PA) out of training. How are the trip schedules like from there. And going forward is the base secure to stay there as a crew base or it might close maybe. Thinking of putting an app this week and if I can hold ABE, this might be my career place. Thanks.

Reserve life in SFB isn’t easy, it’s the largest base and the rescue hub for all of the east half of the country. It’s pretty rare a VFN trickles down junior. Both bases have the same % of really nice trips above 6hrs block. There is definitely more open time to pick up, drops and trading around of your schedule in SFB but if I had a choice between those two, FLL all day especially if you are junior.
