AA Fleet

Are there any routes that we currently or prospectively do that requires the 777? Alot of us would love to see the 330 come back. I’ve heard anecdotally that the 350 can’t do everything the triple did for Delta, specifically Joburg flights westbound.

Just yesterday the head of network planning said that there are 33 more 787s on order and 50 XLRs, all of which are growth aircraft, not replacements. That’s an exact quote, so I guess the 777-2s are sticking around, despite many here (including me) speculating about their inevitable departure.

I mean AA is kind of playing the long game and getting their house in order. I doubt anything fleet wise would happen before 2030. However it would be nice in the future if they decided to order the 777X to replace the 777-3s, and maybe more 787s to replace the 777-2s. Who knows though, anything is possible.

I also doubt there will be many new A319s built when the lines are booked with the greater profit A321s. That may open the window for the A220-300.
