Junior pilots were used as pawns both internally inside APA and externally with the company. Of course we weren't ALWAYS negotiating with the company during covid because APA dissolved the NC for like 4 months after the president and NC chair had a fight. So when DAL and UAL ALPA were saving their pilot's jobs APA had no one that was even authorized to talk to the company on our behalf. Junior pilots "losing" is not an isolated incident at APA.
Take it way back. B scale. Scope on rjs. Twa staple job. The most recent example being zero efforts to prevent furlough during COVID. As you cited above. And the excellent reserve system we have now. "It'll reduce the required number of reserves". It did absolutely nothing that was a net positive for anyone not holding a line. We bumbled our way to a contract with decent contract because of the hard work daddy Delta put in. Our nc chair couldn't stay out of premium. We totally ignored our own survey results because it didn't placate to the top 10-15% of the list.
The despicable changes to our own constitution and bylaws. Making apas primary objective to protect the institution of apa. The gustin amendment. It goes on forever.

I think the issue some people have is with the word “understand”. Understanding is tied to mental capacity. Saying someone can’t understand something is saying they aren’t smart enough to grasp a concept. In other words, it can come across as saying someone is too stupid to get it. A better way of phrasing it would be, you weren’t here to experience what we did, so our outlooks are going to be different, but this is why the past was so bad..

I am in no way saying that anyone is calling anyone stupid. I am just saying the phrase “too junior to understand”- while not intended to be degrading/derogatory- can be perceived that way. Kind of like saying, “no disrespect, but…” then saying something disrespectful.

Many have "ZEEEERRROOOOO" reasons to trust an organization that so gleefully abandoned furlough mitigation efforts during COVID and have done absolutely nothing since to regain any modicum of trust.

How many of those people are left on the BoD? It seems like it is mostly below the line pilots now.

BTL has nothing to do with it. There are plenty of post merger pilots masquerading around APA HQ as die hard APA apologists. (JG is a perfect example)

It’s the culture of APA, doesn’t matter who sits in the seat. We’ve had plenty of BTL BOD members who have been sucked into the vortex once they’re inside.

In recent memory, the ones that didn’t all had charges filed against them.

Culture is driven by the union volunteers and membership. Slapping a new acronym on the organization won’t magically drive changes that are needed.

I’m honestly confused. What else is there besides Section 6?

Please don’t say dues.

What is your hire date just so I can have a frame of reference?

and reserves still follow VMAX and 117, right? So- there’s still a limit to what can be done? I know that sounds insensitive. Not what I mean. I haven’t flown reserve in a couple years, so I don’t know how it is anymore.
14-15 days off as a junior reserve sounds like a terrible QOL lol. At some point the complaining just comes across as whining, meanwhile I anxiously await the new cadre of 24-month legacy CA upgrades complaining about how bad their reserve QOL is.

No need for a merger, then.

Personally, I think you are a lot smarter than you come off.

However, if all you have to offer is vitriol then I’d keep on the sideline.
