I'm not sure if the date for this status is Feb 2013 or Dec 2013, but either way, you should certainly be put behind AA furloughed pilots. Anyone hired at AA or US Airways since then has the exact same career expectation.

I think this merger is a tough call on what date is the date to be used. Yes others had DOJ approval needed but this AG seemed damn if he'd let this merger happen. I think one could say from February until December none of us could say with any confidence a merger would occur. Many actually were more so thinking it'd not go through because of the DOJ and others states AGs going in on this case....

Either way I also find it hard that one who's had a chance to return but didn't should get more credit then others. Based on others it'll be relative seniority in my wild guess.... If you're 75% on either list and end up 75% +/- a small percentage that's what one should be..... I don't care where I go if I keep a relative seniority similar to today that seems only fair?

Unfortunately that only works with airlines that merge with close to the same fleet makeup. US Air has a grand total of 55 aircraft that pay widebody rates (21-A330, 10-767ER, 24-757s which are banded with the 767) on the other had AA has 219 aircraft that pay widebody rates (56-777, 70-767ER, 93-757's also banded with the 767 for pay).

If you take into account that AA's pilot group is roughly twice the size of the US Air pilot group ( 9600 versus 4465) but they have 4 times the amount of widebody aircraft, I would imagine that getting a relative seniority list would be a windfall to the US Air pilot group. (All numbers used here are from the data for each airline on this site)

I don't have a dog in this hunt but just about everyone in the industry is curious as to how this is going to work out with 3 separate lists being merged together. I do know from our experience at DAL that once it goes to the arbitrator it is out of your control.

Correct. There is no such thing as "binding" arbitration to them. The arbitration process is simply a neutral "suggestion" to resolve a dispute and the award to be only a consideration. The next SLI will be no different. Once the result is out, whatever it is, will not meet the Usapian DOH requirement, nor I'm sure provide them with an equivalent result. Although the option of an internal end-run around the process by forming another union using your loyal majority to force that is not an option this time, expect other legal challenges ad naseum and likely for many years. THEN, it will likely be some of the same loyal Usapians here who ridicule some of the west pilots here for wasting their money in support of dubious organization to achieve what they believe to be unobtainable to be the ones joining their own identical parade.

At that point, the ridiculers become the ridiculed.

I for one really enjoy watching all the online arbitrators be it third listers pre and post merger announcement, eagle flows, wannabe new AA pilots etc fight over the scraps at the bottom of the list. Carry on!

Most third listers as well as pilots in general outside of USAPA agree with him.

Actually, no one is REALLY fighting over scraps since not a single iota of any statement made on this forum or the belief that produced it will impact the actual carcass that has the scraps. It's just a forum and all really a futile exercise in individual theory. Personally, I've asked far more questions then given answers on what will or should happen regarding either the meat or the scraps of the upcoming SLI. I'm really only confident of two things; First the DOH that USAPA wants won't happen and second, most Usapians reactions to the final result will range from disappointment to outright rage. That's not to say they'll get the shaft anymore than any other sub-segment of pilots in this little party, just they have the most unreasonable expectations (actually demands) and thus are destined to the reactionary range stated above.

But yes, it certainly is entertaining though.

BTW, your reference is interesting in itself. You seem to target the concerns of those junior here for belittlement while simultaneously omitting some the ramblings of more senior Usapians who are the most vocal in many ways. I think I'll put your perceptions then in the "bias" column that is populated by those with credibility problems due to lack of objectivity, but perhaps it's just the perspective of someone with a garden variety superiority complex or perhaps even an envy complex like the forgotten bass player relegated to the back of the stage who watches the lead guitarist and singer grab all the limelight and attention (and babes).
