It's the law but from what I've heard, the AA side doesn't start your DC until after your probation. ergo they aren't breaking the law if it's not an entitlement you shouldnt be getting. They always get ya

I know info is sometimes hard to come by, just a little update from the chief pilot, fyi:
"Hi, this is CA Kimball Stone with the Flight Department Hotline for May 15....
By now, I’m sure you’ve had the opportunity to fly with or meet some of our recently hired pilots. Since we began hiring in December 2013, we’ve brought more than 1,000 new pilots to legacy American Airlines and legacy US Airways. I know there are some rumors that we’ve stopped hiring, but that's not the case. It’s true that we’ve delayed our street hires to accommodate returning deferrals and flow agreements, but we will ramp up again in the fall. In fact, there will be more than 500 new pilots joining the ranks this year — almost 20 percent of them being off the street; and 2016 staffing projections range between 400 and 500. Adding new pilots to our cadre, coupled with the considerable number of predicted retirements over the next five years, translates to movement and opportunity. All in, we’ve had more than 600 Captain upgrades since 2014, and we’re planning to add up to 150 more new Captains by the end of the year."

Havn't checked in a couple of months but getting LAX had been taking 9 months. Predicting the future trend is impossible. New 787 routes would generate trickle down movement in, and perhaps into LAX.

Headcount gain was supposed to be 590. That number might have changed but if so it hasn't been published.
590 - 14x = 450.
I think the guess is off the street will be in the 125-150 range, recallees(undefers) 150(?)+, and the rest flows (300??).
If you havn't been hired having recallees/undefers take the training slots is better than having a 30 yr old guy take the slot. Same goes with flows, most of them are 40+. So if you're younger than them the seniority 'hit' won't be permanent vs. having 590 guys come off the street with an average age that's 7 years younger (early 2014 data at AA, off the street vs flow avg age).

My guess is after this initial wave of undefers passes, they'll only be trickling back. Most who wanted to come back have already come back (or are in the process of coming back). Next year I'd guess that half the new hires will be off the street.
In about 3-4 years, they'll really have to ramp up hiring to accommodate the attrition, unless the economy crashes again.
