It will probably take just under 2 years to get 1000 hours in the 190 if you were really trying. 3rd year AB FO pay isn't that far behind 3rd year 190 CA. I think the bottom line holder has been here over 3 years.

If you don't live in PHL I don't know why anyone would want to bid 190 captain. AB F/O has way more qol and variety in pairings. Bid sheet is way better, although that will be going away sometime in 2016 for something much crappier. Sap is better, but again going away. I'd rather at least hold long call on the bus than sit short call on the 190.

It looks like AB short call sit times are getting much longer though. I've been here 16 months and am 10-20 away from holding LC on the AB in PHL. I too would rather be the bottom line holder on the 320 than any reserve on the 190, but I live on the west coast. If I lived in PHL, I'd consider 190 CA.

Here's another factor - if you bid E190 CA you can't get off until year four or five due to the two year lockin. Will you still be on reserve in 24+ months in the E190 CA seat? What options will you miss in the next 2-3 years? A320 line holder? Bottom 767/Group IV FO in 2018/2019?

You can go to Delta as soon as you have enough PIC.

The FARs allow a substitution of 500 mil towards the 1000 121 time requirement.

How long to bid out of NY on the LAA side? Into ORD or DFW?

Past performance is no guarantee of future performance -

Junior ORD and DFW pilots got hired in late Dec 2014. How long it took them to get based there? IDK. No one since then has come into ORD or DFW. So is the answer 10 months or infinity? IDK.

(Could have fooled me.)

Hey folks, not trying to start a pi$$ing contest here, but just provide some real time info... People getting hired on right now are all going to the 190 and the path out of the 190 right seat currently is to the left seat of the 190. I was an AUG '14 hire and no one in my class can currently hold anything other than 190 left or right seat; that may be true for a few classes before us as well, but I'm not sure. ie people in my class that did not want the 190 CA are still in the right seat on second year pay because there are no other slots (small or big bus or 75/76) available. This also means that the whole 'good line on the Airbus or short call on the 190' argument is no longer valid. For now at least you will be on short call on either one, so the actual hourly rate difference between the two becomes more important. Do lots of shuttle legs tire one out? Yes. ...but so do months of red eyes on the small airbus. The point is the landscape has changed and there is no movement right now anywhere except the 190. That is obviously subject to change so what things look like a year from now is anyone's guess. I think this situation currently is because of the 767 draw down, but that's above my pay grade. My opinion is both 190 and the small bus are nice planes to fly, the 190 having a better FMS interface and the Bus being much more comfortable. So good look to all, it will be interesting to see what the next year holds, the only thing that seems certain is more RJs.

-cheers, HP
