Here's another factor - if you bid E190 CA you can't get off until year four or five due to the two year lockin. Will you still be on reserve in 24+ months in the E190 CA seat? What options will you miss in the next 2-3 years? A320 line holder? Bottom 767/Group IV FO in 2018/2019?

Hey folks, not trying to start a pi$$ing contest here, but just provide some real time info... People getting hired on right now are all going to the 190 and the path out of the 190 right seat currently is to the left seat of the 190. I was an AUG '14 hire and no one in my class can currently hold anything other than 190 left or right seat; that may be true for a few classes before us as well, but I'm not sure. ie people in my class that did not want the 190 CA are still in the right seat on second year pay because there are no other slots (small or big bus or 75/76) available. This also means that the whole 'good line on the Airbus or short call on the 190' argument is no longer valid. For now at least you will be on short call on either one, so the actual hourly rate difference between the two becomes more important. Do lots of shuttle legs tire one out? Yes. ...but so do months of red eyes on the small airbus. The point is the landscape has changed and there is no movement right now anywhere except the 190. That is obviously subject to change so what things look like a year from now is anyone's guess. I think this situation currently is because of the 767 draw down, but that's above my pay grade. My opinion is both 190 and the small bus are nice planes to fly, the 190 having a better FMS interface and the Bus being much more comfortable. So good look to all, it will be interesting to see what the next year holds, the only thing that seems certain is more RJs.

But I think there are some more components. The company seems to be so focused on getting recalls through training on the LAA side that they are ignoring the LUS side entirely.
Last time I was in CLT, the training center was a total ghost town. Nothing at all like when I was hired. (Yet we have people who have been in the pool for over a YEAR!)
And we sure ain't fat on reserves on the bus.
I think they are mainly trying to address the recall thing and have just dropped the ball. Probably no one will really take notice until flights start cancelling for lack of reserves.

I think this will be short lived. With the next bid, folks should be able to get off the 190. Just a matter of when that bid will be, I suspect February.

OK, so I was completely wrong on this. 16-01 bid is out for January and it doesn't look good at all, pretty much a POS.

Company MO: furlough from the top.
Get used to it, as any growth is going to remain flat as Kirby said domestic, MAYBE grow with GDP (or some crap) but essentially not much. EXCEPT for, as he said RJ's lots more rjs'. to feed the international.
320's gone over time. 321 319 flying.
But if you look on the very last page of the bid, even with the reductions of lines etc, you see how many capt positions are vacant?
So you lose 13 330f/o positions, BUT you have 20 capt vacancies. Which means 20 f/o's will be moving to the left seat. None of those vacancies are Grp I. 13 are 330 or 767 capt slots. Then you have 11 Grp II f/o slots open. So counting the capt vacancies (f/o going to capt and the 11 f/o openings minus the 13 reduction) Gives you 18 Grp II or better f/o positions open. Not huge movement, but movement non the less, with a reduction of head count.

If I read this correctly, I was hired to the AA side in Aug 2014.......you're saying that I could hold EMB-190 Capt. Or FO, but nothing else? Right seat A320 in PHL is that senior?
I might have to rethink my displacement strategy going forward.....
