Glass is whispering in Parker's ear... Hey bud if we go to arbitration, cut wide body lines, and blame the BOD for turning down the huge pay raises we offered the peons.. The peons will mutiny. Heck we already have almost half the BOD on our side.. We just scare a few more peons and the whole APA will fold like a cheap suit, and will be begging us to just settle for half of what we are offering now.
Glass doesn't win unless he gets submission via mutiny... If he doesn't cause at least one recall attempt on the hardliners, then Glass is a miserable failure.
Expect retribution and divisions.

Getting tired of the "well, parker said this in his crew news" crowd. This is one of the reasons glass was hired. He is bypassing the union and negotiating directly with you. This is an attempt to subvert the union and divide the pilot group. I hope we don't lose what things have been offered but for God sake let the union do what they have been eleceted/appointed to do.
This is all a part of the process.

I said the arbitrators would not punish the East. Now I am not so sure. Reading the transcripts, I detect a bit of "attitude". Maybe the arbitrators now and the next will send a message to future groups. Mess with us at your own peril. Perhaps refuse a East fence allowing West to take WB seats.
I don't get how you come up with widebody fences on usairways aircraft for west pilots, those are as much our airplanes as the easts.
Here's a taste of day 3 with usapa merger committee chairman being questioned by arbitrator.
ARBITRATOR JAVITS: All three lists. I guess the gravamen of the questions is are you then putting yourself in the place of Nicolau, are you the new Nicolau because you are proposing a list which may not reflect Nicolau's list?
THE WITNESS: No, certainly not. We are trying to establish the seniority integration for this new process for US Airways pilots. And American has nothing to do with that.
ARBITRATOR JAVITS: But in that process, you are presenting lists which combine both East and West pilots and American.
THE WITNESS: And American pilots, yes.
ARBITRATOR JAVITS: And American pilots. And, therefore, you're making a proposal, which may be different than what Nicolau had in mind and issued back in '07.
THE WITNESS: Yes. It would be a different order.
ARBITRATOR JAVITS: It would be different.
THE WITNESS: It would be different.
ARBITRATOR JAVITS: All right.
MR. FREUND: Thank you. You ask much better questions than I do.
ARBITRATOR JAVITS: I was confused.

Can someone explain why the counter proposal does not have 5:05 min calendar day? I thought the rumor was the company was OK with that? I'm in disbelief that they want 5:15 min duty period and not min calendar day. Seriously??

Maybe I read it wrong but I think they went with an average calendar day, not duty period.

It wasn't an SLI arbitration, it was an arbitration to find out if the west gets a seat. Here is where you can find all transcripts

My oh my... I agree with CB again, read the opening and closing statements... With a focus on the premise of each.

I had no intention to reply to any as I refuse to play third grader, but I have a bit of free time now and I did not elucidate my post to R57. I think you are incorrect to expect the NIC list. There are currently three list. The West will be getting a seat at the table with their West list. While you can propose using the NIC, it would, I think put you into CALs shoes. Best pay attention before you get a CAL shoe up your six. They are not going to use two list. Three. It will be a combination of those three in my opinion (which is worth what you paid for, but I have been good at guessing as an outsider on legal issues). As far as wide body seats, the East will certainly ask for a fence, citing your lack of expectation to fill one. I would doubt they would get that wish, but with the right strategy they might pull it off. Unless they are punished. Worrying about the WB seats is foolish at this time. Your focus should be APA, not USAPA. That combined final number is the most important thing you will ever get. The CAL pilots learned a hard lesson. They are not a happy group.
One thought about the Jess Pauley cross. I would have nailed him harder on pilot order. He talked about needing both East and West for the best results. If the message is as I believe, the loss of the West to independent representation is part of the price the East will pay for avoiding the NIC (along with the loss of income and years of sub-standard working conditions). The East will be in a weaker position against APA. USAPA is NOT the East pilots. USAPA's failure to get a deal with East and West will hurt both a great deal. As I said part of the price both groups have to pay. As I said before, this is UAL/CAL all over again. I also had a very hard time following Wilder's argument and I am not the only one. I don't think he sold his line. I still think James sealed the deal in his opening. Clear and to the point. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I do wish all pilots in this the best in this. In my experience a few (well, 25%) will do fine, most will be micturating nails and razor blades.
