They need to hammer out an agreement and send it to the pilots to vote. I don't like my future being decided by a board or committee. Get an agreement, send it to the pilots let them decide. If they like it, it will pass, otherwise it will not and off to arbitration we go. Let the pilots decide, not a panel of several union hacks!

What is a union hack? I am sure there are some good guys doing union work so you should keep your stupid generalizations to yourself.

I agree that the pilot group should vote on it.

I disagree completely. The pilot group only has to vote 50%+1 or 50%-1 to secure/decline the contract. That contract could be pretty bad, or it could be pretty good, and a few being ignorant (like the FAs, thinking a better offer was coming, or not understanding the situation we are in currently) could affect the entire group as a whole.

I would rather see a group of educated folks on the subject, looking at the entire agreement and knowing the in's and outs, representative of the group deciding our fate than the crazies on C&R. Wouldn't you?

Pilot ratification with a 75% threshold to pass is fine by me.

While I would never use the word "hack" to describe a union (unions are like lawyers you don't need them until - you do) I vehemently disagree that they should decide this without a vote. It is the unions job to hammer out the best deal that they can, EXPLAIN the deal and what the alternative scenarios might look like, then put it to a vote. The absolute worst possible thing they could do, is agree to anything that has not been voted on. Parker would sure love it though. He would be able to milk the rancor that would ensue for a decade.

That is correct. The United rates are set until the end of 2016. Also the comparison is between United and Delta "base" rates. Not Delta + profit sharing. While many, myself included, would like the Delta profit sharing to be included in the mix, the side letter does not address that.

The comparison will be Delta Pay rates and United Pay rates only. It is highly unlikely that APA will gain the actual Delta rates in the next 5 years.

The agreement language doesn't support that.

I am really glad you guys are taking the time to read and review the finer points of the contract. It may be too late in the game as of now but at least you realize more of what isn't in the contact as well as is in it.

The MOU (our current contract) has details. It has enforceable fine print. The Bar Napkin Contract "offer" from management is written with invisible ink, and they have an eraser to rewrite it however they like.

If you don't like the frying pan, you are free to jump in the fire.
