If you come here, just realize that this is a stepping stone at this point to something better. But while you're here, do what the rest of us do: Be ALL IN, fly the CBA, back the EXCO, and listen to those who have been here longer.

This is airline #4 for me, and while I would love to stay around, it just makes more sense to polish the resumes and move on.

In my opinion, leaving XJT and moving to Atlas would be a bad choice for you and your family. Stay where you are. Think short term pain for long term gain; go to a reputable airline. I recommended a few friends who are on probation right now and I feel awful, like I've sold them into some Ponzi scheme. ALL IN

Our management has proven to only give a crap about making money for themselves and the shareholders...their stance on negotiations became clear last week. Atlas management is hell-bent on union-busting and keeping us down in the weeds for pay, work rules, and retirement -- the three most important issues that we face.

If you come here, consider it a stepping stone to a legacy or other cargo airline like FDX and UPS...Atlas will NEVER be a major at the rate they are going, and will NEVER treat us the way we deserve.

PERIOD...decide accordingly.

Good luck.

I am sorry, but I think you are out of touch with the rest of the industry if you think a regional FO is better off passing on Atlas - regardless of the current woes - to continue flying an RJ for $45,000 a year in the hopes that he might someday get a better shot somewhere else.

Thanks for the advice but I'll take the job, and consider my future from there.

That being said, you can fully expect me to stand with the pilot group. I always have.

Those of you that are telling guys not to go to Atlas are being a bit ridiculous, IMO. It's up to each individual to determine whether making a move is a good decision or not, and what their motivation is. In the case of many regional FO's, they're stuck at a lower pay, worse schedule(in terms of days off per month, at least), and the chance of upgrade may be as far away as the potential upgrade at Atlas.

Some are Captains at regionals that may take a pay cut their first year, but then make more from year 2 on, and have a better family life if they're not living in their base.

Some are coming from other ACMI carriers that are looking for a better life for their family...can you blame them?

Personally, I am coming from an overseas carrier, and looking forward to joining Atlas. It gets me back home to the good 'ole USA, gives me a decent schedule, a good group of people to work with(according to my buddies there), and the opportunity to make Atlas a career destination. ALL IN.

Regardless of where a pilot is coming from, I think that most will be ALL IN...and we can make it a great place to be. If things don't go well, then Atlas will become a stepping stone for many. Whatever the case, we all need to stick together, fly the CBA, back the Union, and have some fun in the meantime.

Sometimes reading this thread on this site is the worst thing a guy can do. I often wonder why I am revisiting the site now that I have a confirmed class date.

The more I read this, the more I reconsider my position of leaving more than 10 years of seniority as a regional captain with a short commute and earning over 100k a year to go fly heavy metal and see the world.

I've got to put my notice in tomorrow with my chief, and the negativity on this site is appalling. Whatever happened to everyone using this thread to help get the gouge out and help others get on with Atlas?

Seriously, this is giving me complete heartburn and heartache at the 11th hour.

We are headed into years of acrid turmoil with a mgmnt that has decided it is cheaper to train then retain. Stay put! One person's opinion from the inside.

This assumes Southern gets DOH integration. They are also bringing 10 aircraft with them, It could be a lot worse. But please continue with the doom and gloom.

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! My 2 year old doesn't whine this much. Things definitely aren't perfect here but don't listen to this negative garbage. We need good people here if this is going to be a career airline. Think long and hard about the type of flying we do here and decide if it's for you. Don't listen to the garbage you read here.

Garbage, eh Frances? I never said the sky was falling, I'm calling a spade a spade. Criticism is not garbage, it's an opinion based on the past actions of this very company.

Post your facts supporting the reasons we should be so encouraged going into this process with this company, and I will reconsider my "garbage". Until then, eyes wide open people.
