Atlas Air Hiring
#8292
On of the new hires in my class spent over 6 years flying Piaggio's, and only 4 months at Express Jet. So most of their time was in turbo props, but turbo props with glass, and in a company that operates on a long, constantly changing schedule. The Express Jet time was in the ERJ. That tells me that the quality of the time is more important than the hour counts themselves. Just my humble opinion.

Gee,
B.H.FR8 D.
let's see, I think I'd rather have a 5 yrs, 3,000 hrs. EMB or CL pilot who spent his/her career flying out of DEN, ORD, or LGA,
than a RMA career B-52, C 135, P-3 etc. with 3,000 hrs, 300 to/land. and a butt load of powerpoint lectures sitting in the right seat!

You can teach any ********* to fly a plane. But an airline can't un-teach someone from being an ********* to fly with. Nor do they have the time/inclination to do so. Doesn't matter what/where they flew previous.

Maybe I missed the sarcasm, but we should keep the military vs. civilian battle out of this thread. Each bring their own strengths and weaknesses and I think Atlas is stronger for having a good mix. You may want someone with a lot of experience with busy US airports with you when operating out of busy US airports, but it also pays to have someone with you who has been to the middle of nowhere with little-to-no ATC and no company support. We each have something to learn from the other.

We learn the most from those who are different from ourselves.
