UPS talks resume

Yes, the TWU545 dispatchers are supporting you and WILL honor your picket line!!! The Teamsters will honor it as well. Remember there will always be a little resentment with some of them since the pilots split, but they would be shooting themselves in the foot to scab the IPA. UPS management is nervous, I hear it everyday. Assuming management pilots fly the planes, who is going to fix them? The way this company carries around deferrals until the drop-dead date is asking for trouble. Who is going to dispatch the flights? Our management dispatchers don't actually work the desk to stay current and only four of them have dispatched a full sector of flights with Lido since we got it. Dispatch would melt down if these guys all tried to jump on a desk at once! The airline is screwed if you walk and they know it. Replacement pilots? The company would not take the cut in service long enough to get them trained. Publicly owned stock is little too sensitive for that. In all honesty Nicholson's move to send letters to our customers did not sit well with many, but so be it, it's not even close to a reason to cross the picket line.
If there is actually a Teamster surfing this site, you will want and need the IPA behind you on your next contract. I know I would want them backing us when the company pulls us into fours years of negotiating. The dispatchers are giving 100% support to our union brothers!!!
By the way, It's pretty easy and funny to pick out the management moles. They are no different on this board than they are in real life. I deal with the same ones you do too.

You were hired as a replacement worker in the event of a strike. You probably don't even know the truth of that. 10% of you actually do a good job. A worthy job. The rest of you little indians just run around, trying to justify your existence until strike time. Then you can boldy step on our necks as you cross the picket line. Proclaiming your goodness and righteousness.
Well done you moron.
Leave it to a UPS manager to talk about UPS pilots wives and their legs, then turn around and berate a UPS line guy for, "veiled profanity". Typical unbelievable UPS management ethical duality.

Who is doing the Heavy checks right now for UPS aircraft? I do expect dispatch and Maint to honor a strike. I do expect UPS already has a plan of action in place. 1997 was much different than today. UPS was private then, we are now public. If you don't think it is possible to be replaced then why is UPS SCS using alot of non IPA crews? A lot of loaders and drivers in this company that make up the backbone of UPS are fed up with the IPA and the attitude of they are better than everybody else at UPS. Gaudet and Nicholson have severely hurt the relationship between the IPA and the rank and file of the Teamsters. Beleive what you want. If you feel I'm management then go ahead and think so. I'm sure you would have had more support if the IPA still had the same officers as it did back in 1997. I guess I do have some resentment towards SOME pilots. I know quite a few and most are good guys. Those who I have seen posting here really disappoint me. It is a real shame that you feel that you are more important than anybody else at UPS. You harp on a perfect safety record but it's funny how hush hush it was of the 76 accident at EFD a few years ago, or tailstrikes. You compare a record to Fed Ex. Well Fed Ex has been flying 15 years longer than UPS and operated far more flights than UPS. I agree that UPS has probably the best pilots in the industry but it seems as if they have the largest egos and thickest heads in the industry too. Do I feel you deserve a fair wage, you betcha but I also see down the road as well. People all it takes is a recession in Asia to kill the record profits INTL is giving us. You seem to think that UPS is full of stupid managers that don't know how to run a company. Fact is the company has been around for over 97 years and look at how the balance sheets have looked during that time. Sure there has been some trial and error. The IPA and its pilots have only been a part of the UPS family since 1988. 17 years but they know how UPS should be run and they can run UPS better. Why is it that you feel if you don't get your way that you can hurt your teamster brothers who make a fraction of what you do? I know how difficult it is being a pilot and being away from home during birthdays and holidays and family. My father was a pilot. I have seen first had how labor and managment issues have destroyed an airline. Now The IPA is led by "Capt. Nicholson learned all aspects of airline operations and experienced first hand the complexities of airline management." who is from Peoples Express. He learned all aspects from Peoples Express lasted a total of six years before crumbling.
I find it a complete shame that some of you here want to bash managment pilots and management pilots want to bash line guys. What ever happened in taking pride in your company and your job. Why did you guys want to come on board UPS if the company is so bad? What ever happened to working together. This is disgusting.

I had an interesting conversation with my UPS driver a couple of weeks ago. His support for the pilots was unequivocal. I was hired not long after the 97 strike, and while in the airport in Detroit I had a Teamster come up to me and thank me for the support the pilots gave them during the strike. The management moles don't understand (are you listening?) that UPS corporate culture has nurtured an environment among labor that promotes a feeling of disdain for the company. We, as labor, are not seen as assets to the company but as liabilities. We are certainly not seen as human beings. The rest of our union brethren WILL walk with us because it will be another opportunity to take a poke at the Big Brown Bully. The sad thing is it doesn't have to be like that. But remember moles (are you listening?) you reap what you sow.

You bet I am listening. But it the company goes down, it will be for the same reason EAL, etc. went down: The ungodly greed of the unions! And, believe me, I mean myself, too! Yeah, I might be mgt. and if UPS signs a fat contract, and if I am mgt, my pay would go up, too. You see, I would win either way, line or mgt. But, maybe we all would lose, like the man says about a recession in Asia

Greetings Fellow IPA'ers:
This is getting out of control. HSLD please put a stop to these two characters UPS"no respect"CAPT and SOYASAUCE. They are trouble makers, who are lying and spreading awful rumors. Shame on them for associating themselves with our great company. If you see fit, stop them at once. I am starting to get offended and so are the others on this forum. This was not your intention when you started this forum; that individuals are allowed to abuse other people and say whatever they want, ie. Nicholson. They are not joking, they are serious!

Soyathink,
How is it that you come across so authoritatively? Maybe it is just the Kool-Aid talking.
And what exactly is it about us that has all the help fed up? Somehow, you come across as someone who just came out of a corporate tent revival/pep rally.
Look, unlike the others I am not here to bust your chops even though you richly deserve it. No, you and all the de-minimus "managers" are cordially invited to stand up for yourselves, as allowed by the 6th US Circuit Court's Dorsey decision (ask your managerial handler
) and get yourselves into the IPA. Oh, I know, you'll have to take a number and you will actually have to fly, quite possibly at NIGHT!!!
But you will then have a *chance* to obtain respectability. But that will have to be earned, not conferred.
Have a nice night.

I'm not here to spread rumors and such. I just want to know why is it that the IPA is so bitter. How much is enough when airlines are losing money and fuel costs are twice as much as a year ago. Why does the IPA try to hurt us teamsters by contacting customers and taking out full page ads all over the world? So you have talked to a driver or two huh and you know the truth. Hopefully we won't have to see what happens. I do feel this will be resolved. I just think it will be one of those becareful what you wish for deals.
To Browncow, please have a look at your last post. Now look at the dictionary and find the word Hypocrite. Now did the IPA take out these full page ads all over the world? Did the IPA contact Fortunes top 4000 shippers regarding a possible work stoppage? Did Nicholson's airline experience other than military come from defunct Peoples Express? Did local 89 have a vote which Zuckerman the one who assured the IPA Teamster support lost and will probably lose the December election? Has it not been stated that the Teamster Rank and File want a change in leadership. Has it not been stated on numerous messageboards that the teamsters of UPS feel that the IPA are "Primadonnas" "Better than everybody else" "Greedy" Here are some quotes "UPS people are tired of these threats and as demonstrated in the teamster local union elections held across the country.....union leadership is getting voted out. " "They don't have to call in every day to see if they have work, like many of their part-time Teamster counterparts. For that reason alone, I think the folks on the ground side take great offense to the IPA scare tactics. " "I appreciated you walking the picket line with us (I was out there too) but I'f that happens again this time around I'm not sure that we recover. customers have many more options now that they did then and I only have to look as far as my own customers to see fdx trailers and dhl trucks around where they never used to be. and as far as your last point that you "personally can't wait to strike" I'm just stunned by that short sighted attitude in this day and age. good luck to you."
