For me about the only thing would be a total shutdown. Could it happen?. Hell yea. But until then I am safe. Many of my fellow more senior Capt.s have taken the attitude of well we tried to get everyone on the same page, nonone wanted to listen so ******em.
Let them eat the cake they bought. For me, I am still hoping for the Unity we once had. I believe that we will never be able to have a say in what goes on until this company feels it in the wallet. The first thing would be for a complete and honored days off program. Do you 75 hours and not one minute more. This isn't a OT ban, only a education process. I want you to upgrade and and anyone else who does. Until everyone is on the same page then my previous attitude applies. F-M

I know of at least a few hundred guys who did not get a bonus, did not get a leather jacket, did not vote for or against the contract, take home pay under $1000 a month who bust their tails to provide excellent support to their senior and junior captains just because it is the right thing.

Thanks for the pep talk and I appreciate being told the same Captains I desire to support have poor things to say about us or any other F/O. Unity includes everyone. I am going to get some cake with my savings from my previous job.

The EB(Magner) and UPS(Coleman) played us like a fiddle. They had this thing down to a science concerning the Demographics of our group.

They bought hundreds of votes by giving out 40K to people who were on property a very short time. People didn't care about what happens down the road, they saw more coin then they made working a full year. Like I said, Magner and Coleman thought this through.

No pep talk dude. just reality. Let me refresh your memory when I was one of the 100 or so who didn't vote. In 1990 when I was hired I worked under one of the crappiest contracts you could imagine. I have the original IPEX guys to thank for how it only paded the pocket books of the senior ones. I will dam well bet you I was not making $100K my second year here with this company. not even my third. How long did you spend on the panel? Oh I forgot you were hired into the right seat. Gosh, no leather jacket. Tell you what my fellow IPAer, I will give you my leather jacket for a revote any day and will gladly make sure you get one if it's voted down. Remember the IPA didn't keep you from getting one, it was your friendly employeer. You see they change the rules as they go along. You and I can only hope to unite and hope for change. Are you willing? Until I will enjoy my seniority.

Heavy,
The UPS airline then and the one now are VERY different. Thanks. Nothing, as far as I know, can be done about the contract no matter how you feel about it. It is the one we all follow, good or bad.

What are your thoughts on my comments about the Management pilots? Not the biggest issue??

HUGE ISSUE alone with Scope, Open Skies, Europe Flying, Age 65 impact, Future Crew Domiciles, OT pickups and any issue you want to discuss. The airline may have changed from 1990 to now but it's still UPS and why should we not learn from the past. If you want the more senior people to care about your future then start today and educate everyone on the issues at hand. You can make a difference.

cheers

Heavy,
Relaxxxxx or you will let one of those junior F/O's move up one <g>
You have a real un-unity bash going on with some junior folks who landed at the end of the circus and only heard about it. The ones you desire to unleash on don't really visit here that often. I have mentored some of these folks posting, taught some of 'em in the schoolhouse. You want unity and then club them with how smart we were and bring up the stereotype that you will just pull up the rope and take the ball home, how we licked the roads clean as new hires etc. Everyone here has a had a tough road, very few lottery winners here, but really we ended up doing a job many envy to have.
Well I made some compelling arguments against the CBA too. We did not succeed. We now must press fwd and become unified through continuing education. Can't take the ball home. It is still in play. UPS just kicked it.... far! I still will play. Think I know who you are (probably figure who I am also). If so, You have a generous rep. Keep the ball in play and continue to educate gracefully. That will serve all of us better. Sure, they are F/O's outta the box, but first year pay IS still woefully poor compared to when I was hired in 96 adjusted for inflation. Also, I didn't have to work out an extraordinarily tough commute or high cost of living nor work schedules designed to force me to move to ANC. I have alot of sympathy for our first and second year folks. UPS is doing more to unify them to the IPA if we mentor. Remember that when you get frustrated. I am a very junior Capt. I will not survive in the left seat, so be it. Unlike you, I'm on the last sheet of bozoheads, voted no, and urge all to press. Deal with the onslaught of flight supervisors flying an alter ego airline, educate why it is beneficial to stay home starting in year 2 and enjoy a much deserved rest and rise in standard of living on days off, etc.

I am totally relaxed here. No worries on my part. I do appreciate the generous rep comment. I know exactly who you are and respect you as well. We are all friends here and my comments are only regarding how un-unified we are and now's the time to start. It's everyones game to play in. I have had my turn and want everyone to have theirs. That's all.

Go WFU

"UPS is doing more to unify them to the IPA if we mentor."

That's how it was when Heavy and I got hired. The IPA is always stronger as a unified group. Whatever it takes to get there works for me.

I'm no expert but I'd offer up this one opinion....

The better the job gets, for each of as individuals and for each of our reasons, the harder it is for the IPA to "get things done". So much is blamed on the leadership that should be blamed on the membership for not drawing a bigger line in the sand. It's hard to draw the line when you have one of the best jobs in the biz.

As always, the more UPS does to tick off the group, as a whole, the more fodder the IPA will have to get stuff done.

Big D, hard to believe 18 years have passed so quickly. Yes we were there in the lean years, sometimes we all forget how lean. Unity is our best friend. Newhire or #1 on the list, it's up to us to make this job the best it can be.

I will do my part to educate...how about all of you?

Cheers bubba

Heavy...I'm all ears!!

Fish,
I hear you! All the new hires, after feb 07, will end up in ANC, IMO. The cost of living alone there is higher by 36% than SDF. NOTHING to offset the cost of living....you simply cant live there on 33k. Even second year pay will make it tough.....not to mention if you want to go anywhere (i.e. visit family friends) you are looking at a 5+ hour plane ride min. Not cheap either.

Managers are getting pay raises, cola....time off to move for going to ANC...I am sure there is more but what do I know. We cant even get time off to move!!!!!!!!!!!!
