I've got a couple meetings set up this week that will hopefully allow me to get away from UPS for a while until this paycut and displacement BS blows over. Anything to keep me away from commuting to Alaska at half pay.
Ideally one of these opportunities will allow me to tell UPS to shove it permanently. The atmosphere at this place just isn't for me. I've flown with some of he best people I've ever met in this industry, but the management here at this place is from the dark ages. What a mistake to hook my flying career to UPS. We'll be at the bottom of everybody's list once hiring picks up again someday, I predict. The high hourly rate isn't worth it. Trust me!

Either way, if you show up on my crew I'll be seriously inclined to have you replaced...as you point out, working for UPS is a big enough challenge as it is without working with a pre-suicidal malcontent.

Really...we're going to have to set up a Pay Pal account so you can pay us for the psychotherapy that you seem to be seeking from us. If it weren't for what apparently is the fact that you are a genuine line guy (or a management puke that got a password), I'd swear you're Skyhigh, another lost soul who used to stagger around the board bemoaning the futility of a career as a pilot. On and on he went about the abject misery of being him, and he became the messiah of misery trying to bring the rest of us along to quit and go (in his case as I recall) become a realtor in a declining market or some other cubicle monkey. For everybody's sake (and especially your own) please just get out of here and do us the courtesy of allowing us deluded, pathetic lost souls the solitude of complaining about all the things we have little or no control of. But we choose to stay...accept that if you will. You are in complete control of your destiny in so much as you can go work at Home Depot or some other troll-like job where you'll live down to your expectations. Just don't be surprised when, in short order, you become restless and angst ridden yet again, and get fired from Home Depot for leading a rebellion that nobody else wanted to join.

Give this guy a break and don't poke at him anymore with your sharp stick. He gets a leave and gains what he wants or a new perspective one of the two. We all have periods where this place drove us a little nuts

Which one of the two is more miserable, Bob or UPSMistake? Come on guys, life is way too short to spend it *****ing about UPS or eachother.

You guys are cracking me up. Personally, I wish everyone that says they hate UPS would leave so I could move up a couple thousand numbers overnight.

Last night my buddy who's laid off from JAL after 7 years on the 747 read this whole thread and he couldn't hide the disgust in his face... He's been trying to get hired here for 5+ years (wanted to fulfill his JAL training contract) and wasn't even able to get an interview here despite numerous recommendations, several from our captains...
Since JAL laid off - not furloughed but laid off - all western contract pilots he's been desperately looking for pretty much any job out there... His house is on the market now and things look pretty grim but he keeps his chin up because he has a beautiful wife and two adorable little girls at home...
I told him to look at the bright side - hey, at least you don't have to "commute to Alaska at half pay"

I know, it's all relative...

Anyway, there a few Chinese operators looking for DEC current and qualified 744 captains. I hope your friend does not throw in the towel, and takes a shot at China. May not be a generous as JAL, but it's a job, and hopefully he can keep the house.
