Yhave to admit there is some irony in the fact that the Union guy from Southern signed this letter of commitment after last year when they totally undercut everyone with regional wages to fly 737s.
Then you have Kallita union guys on here saying "let's all stick together and it will all work out. Yea. But for who? It's my understanding that Kallita company can impose a pay rate without a union vote. So the Union can say "we won't undercut anyone." Then the company can undercut. The Union can then say "sorry we got your work. we tried to have your back."
Then the 1224 is going to start a media campaign accusing DHL of unfair labor practices. Do you think DHL will figure out what started that?
That letter of commitment has a floor that has not been stated. I'm pretty sure it will be consideralby lower than the current ABX compensation package.
ABX pilot group can say "we won't budge" but I think there is a very real possibility that will reault in a substantial loss of business with at least 17 plane going out to the lowest bidder in the coming months.

The ABX EXCO guys are trying to make everyone believe they can maintain business wthout having to give anything up. How can they honestly think that?
We are in the "Union" with our major competitor who all seel the same commodity for less than us. Of course they want us to keep our prices higher.
In a way it's goog they are going to play this out with 4 planes. If DHL ends up hiring a different company to CMI those, that will tell us how well the "I won't give anything up because DHL will continue to pay more for ABX service because ABX is so much better than everyone else" strategy works.
In the mean time, ATI is getting ready to lose all of their 767s. My guess is the DHL 757s will be going out for bid next. Who do you think will get that work?

Where did you get this information from? Is this true?

I disagree with this! The EXCO are a bunch of guys doing a thankless job. How can you say they're taking care of themselves and their buddies? Everything good or bad happens by seniority. It's pretty hard to keep everyone on a seniority list happy. They just try and do their best for the group as a whole.
The whole time looking us in the eye and saying he would never do it.

Guys.
Those 4 planes are gone. My guess is they are going to Kallita and the deal was done a long time ago. 1224 is just tryong to distance themselves from the poo storm of criticism that is going to happen when pilots realize what is happening.
Question. Did the 1224 president approve the Southern 737 pay rate? Of course they did. I'm not saying if I think that is right or wrong. Just that it happened.
Hete is telling you what is going to happen.
The motivation of those groups and individuals seems pretty clear. What is the motivation of the ABX EXCO?
We are on the cusp of a major growth and expansion invironment with DHL in the US. Will ABX be a part of that? If not, what other options do they have?

You know nothing has changed since the last time DHL was forced to deal with Joe Hete back in 2008. Joe still owns the planes and DHL only owns 4 of them.
Joe is not about to take a pay cut over ABX. The price for the other 13 will be at a premium in order to make up the loss. Why? Because he's paying for them at 30 million a pop or close to 400 million and 2 years lead time to make it happen. Who else will do that? DHL? Not their style. It is still cheaper to sign with ATSG unless you want to start making freighters or pay a premium. No matter how much pilots get paid.
