Not a true statement at all...The B-777 has had many a new hire with only turboprop time or small corporate jet experience. Because of the flying, the 767 is the better fleet to be on at Omni. The B-777 pilots fight for landings and see the sim often to reset plus DH all over the world. You will not fly much on the B-777 and you will be away from home 18 days.

Yes. At least one did. I've been told that the 777 usually gets assigned to people with previous heavy time. I don't think that was necessarily the case in my interview group.

While my ego wanted the 777, I think the 767 affords more opportunity. Read through this whole thread on the different schedules and utilization and you can see which aircraft is best for you. Of course none of that matters. They assign you where they need bodies, just like all other airlines.

I will say this.... If you think all the b.s. political correctness going on at legacy carriers like "tell me about the charity work you do" etc. is a crock of crap. You'll like the Omni guys. I was interviewed by the CP and two fleet Managers. They were all cool guys who balanced friendly and professionalism. I got the invite to Atlas for the testing (I know, far from a job offer) but have decided to put that on hold for the aforementioned reason. Where I live, who I work with is a big deal and I like what I see so far (except for the pay).

just my $.02

Any specific source recommended to prep for the written exam?

I was in an indoc class this past year and one of the 777 new hires was a no show, so the office came to our class looking to fill the empty slot. I was the only 777 typed guy in our group but they let it go to an RJ guy who half heartedly volunteered. Anybody regardless of experience can go to the 777. But, be prepared to go non-landing current now and then.

I know of one that was supposed to but went to Atlas instead due to location of where he lived. Another possible from a regional airline.

I talked to a guy from my company who's in that class. He thinks there are 8 to 12 pilots in it. both 767/777.

I wonder if the Omni hiring is gearing up for the Amazon flying or if pilots will be leaving for Amazon Operation when it expands?

I received a call from Omni and they told me that they could not get a hold of me after I sent my application in to them. The lady in HR told me that she would ask her boss about proceeding with an interview with me, but since they couldn't get a hold of me that I would have to reapply in a year. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks.

Logic in this statement makes absolutely no sense, Omni is home based. I'd respect the statement more if he just said he'd rather work at atlas. Unless he lives outside the contiguous states there shouldn't be an issue in where he / she lives.
