He would still be there out of necessity. Not because he thought everything was a-ok and enjoyed working for substantially less than he was worth in the type of operation he was flying in. Uncle Stan is swimming in dough because of the underpaid sweat off his brow. The fact that he had the gumption and the will power to move on to make his life better and get paid fairly is better than "sucking it up" just because he didn't want to move on. He'll be making more money in a few years with much better QOL than he ever would at Omni. Good for him.

Why did he go to Omni in the first place then.

Perhaps it was a step up from where he was before and where he is now is a step up from Omni. I can only guess. You'll have to ask him.

Speaking for myself, this was definitely the case for me. Omni provided me with experience necessary to move on to better myself and my career.

FREE? I dont think so... if you think it was for free.....why dont you refund to the company the difference in your 60 guarantee and your actual hours flown times your hourly rate.....didnt think so. Does Omni ned a trip rig.... I would say yes.... does K4 need one... yes we do.... but what ever you did, it wasnt for free.

You have been lucky enough to be snagged by the "cream of the crap".... no need to bash where you came from .... and honestly had Atlas not hired you, you would still be at Omni.
I'm simply trying to help people still over there shoot for better in their next CBA. I was there during the negotiations for the first one, and was very vocal about the lack of rig. Nobody listened, and now I'm telling people why I left. This is not an Atlas vs. Omni thread.

Your argument about sitting around for free is exactly why we didn't get rig, and I thank you for pointing out why this attitude is a dangerous one.

I'll step back and let you guys argue it out, though. All the best.

Its the fact of Omni's current contract and many others that are currently negotiating, fwiw.... I dont think a K4 contract has a chance without a rig.

Understand my point... you are not working for free without a rig.... working for min guarantee...yes.... I fully support trip rigs .... absolutely while Atlas, Omni, Kalitta, Southern pilots are on the road for their contractual days they should be compensated towards guarantee for each and every day.

I meant that it was free for them to leave you out on the road, with the exception of the hotel and per diem.

I'm going to cool it a bit in this thread...I think I've made my points, and I don't want anyone thinking I'm bashing Omni pilots, or making "neener neener" posts. I simply care very strongly about Omni getting a better CBA the next time around, and helping people make informed decisions about the company (and like I said, I still do recommend Omni to people).

I think they will get a better CBA next time around. Fact is one of the best contracts today (SWA) was achieved bit by bit.... very few home runs were hit there. Best of luck to you at Atlas NightIP.

Omni had a once in a lifetime ace up their sleeve and that was the fact we did not have a contract and they kept dropping hints of furloughing out of seniority off the DC-10. Those guys got scared and voted yes for the protection and then the FE's were furloughed 6 weeks after the contract was voted in and they started parking the 10's.
