As an Atlas newbie, I have to say... Atlas is still night and day compared to Omni, from what I've seen. I'm sure there are things that need to be improved (I suppose people could say that about any airline), but the level of respect as a professional that I've received as a new-hire is far and above anything I'd gotten in 2.5 years at Omni.

Omni has a culture problem that needs to be addressed from the top down if they want to retain labor. Being treated like a human goes a long way, and I don't see how someone like dc10pilot could possibly be a line pilot over there and support/defend their mistreatment.

Being sent out to sit reserve overseas without being credited toward guarantee is hardly fair.

Not even talking about Atlas here... I know a guy who was until recently at North American; I related a trip I once flew for Omni, wherein I flew one leg to SNN, sat a week and a half, flew one leg to KWI, sat for another week, then deadheaded home through Germany on company metal. I was paid 60 hours for my 18 days away from home. We did the math, and he would have been paid 105 hours for the same trip. He simply could not comprehend that I was just left out there on the road for free.

Are you content with 60 hours when your peers doing the same job are making almost double that (or going home well before you)? Seoceancrosser's questions to you on the previous page are also good ones.

No place is perfect, but it's rather disingenuous to tell people that it's on par with the rest of the industry. I digress.

Thumbs down

I was just left out there on the road for free.
That is just wrong. People try to say Omni is a good option. I hear when F/As get sent out they stay out, for months at a time. Don't know if that's a myth or not. IMO Omni is only for escaping the regionals and as "holding pattern" to get heavy Int'l time. Hope you guys hang in there with impending AMC cuts. I'm afraid others won't fair so well.

Didn't you know that going into the job. If not you did no research and that falls back on you. I know all about Omni. I worked there until my recall. I enjoyed my time at Omni. Had a lot of fun.

That's one of my two favorite ultimate cop out justifications. The other is "if you don't like it, then quit."

I could say its a bit disingenuous that you say you were left out there for FREE.... you got paid your min guarantee.... you were paid to be avail for X number of days for a min guarantee of 60 hours pay... thats what you got... FREE? I dont think so... if you think it was for free.....why dont you refund to the company the difference in your 60 guarantee and your actual hours flown times your hourly rate.....didnt think so. Does Omni ned a trip rig.... I would say yes.... does K4 need one... yes we do.... but what ever you did, it wasnt for free.

You have been lucky enough to be snagged by the "cream of the crap".... no need to bash where you came from .... and honestly had Atlas not hired you, you would still be at Omni.
