Those that left Omni to come to Atlas...I wish them the best.
However, being an almost-incurable optimist, I hope that Omni (and Atlas also) realize that the constant loss of good people to greener pastures ultimately costs the company a lot more than just training dollars. They loose good folks with a lot of good experience and knowledge.
Well, that said, I've been waiting for 15 years to see that at Atlas, and for the most part, lately that has been happening...more guys are opting to stay here rather than leaving to go elsewhere.
Good luck...to us all in this crazy business.

20 people did not leave, but 1 captain and several FO's have and there are a few more that will be putting in their 2 weeks notice soon. People are sick of it, even some of the "old school" DC-10 people that were so pro-company are now getting fed up and looking to leave.

I also wish good things for those in the industry, regardless of current situation. I hope that your life at Atlas is changing for the better. I'm not so sure that a lack of folks "voting with thier feet" is necessarilly a good indicator of the long-term picture. I believe there will be a shakeup at many places when hiring is across the board or at least on a broader spectrum than what we see now. Optomistically speaking, if it gets better at one company it can impart an upward vector to all. Good wishes!

dc10pilot, you seem to be pretty content with the life at Omni. I do have a few questions though. What brought you to Omni? What keeps you at Omni? Why should one think about leaving their current job to go to Omni? I know you say the grass isn't greener elsewhere, but many people would like to know what Omni puts in their grass to keep it growing and sustainable. All 3 CA's that quit in Janurary had over 5 years longevity with Omni. Sixth year pay is the difference between making 88k a year and 101k a year as a CA. Why do you think one would walk away from 101k a year as a CA with over 5 years longevity? What is Omni putting in its grass to keep it green and make it greener?

BTW, as you well know, greener pastures is a relative term, ain't it?!!

Walking with your feet to greener pastures is certainly something Atlas knows about...do they care? Not really, but if they want to attract pilots with good backgrounds, and good experience, they will have to address lost of issues that we face everyday.

Omni has a culture problem that needs to be addressed from the top down if they want to retain labor. Being treated like a human goes a long way, and I don't see how someone like dc10pilot could possibly be a line pilot over there and support/defend their mistreatment.
