Compass updates

I don't think the hotel will change in the contract. Just remember though if you do come here that everyone had to deal with the same issues and no one will have any sympathy, seems some forget that. Don't let the hotel thing get in the way though, it really is a good company compared to many out there.

Nearly every captain (or maybe just every captain) at Compass had their hotel paid for during training in Montreal. Since new hires are typically first officers and first officers spend most of their time at work with captains I think its safe to say there is plenty of sympathy to go around. That said, your point is correct; if you are caught up on pay and hotel during training your cost/benefit calculation is screwed up. An airline career is a marathon not a 40 yard dash.

Called it...
I recall posting about phase two of the Delta west coast flying and the addition of a west coast base months ago. I'll take this opportunity to accept the apologies of all the naysayers out there.

Will you then also be extending apologies for all of the AA flying Compass was supposed to get?

You're right it is a marathon. The only reason Compass does not pay for a hotel during initial is because they can. Pilots will still show up and bend over for two months in hopes of a quick upgrade. Doesn't sound like a "marathon" when you put it that way. It sounds more like a 40 yard dash.
If you want an airline career and have a choice between a large regional with moderate attrition from all seniority levels and maybe a little growth who pays for training and a small regional with known, large, metered attrition from the top of the seniority list who doesn't pay for training it probably makes sense to go to the large attrition company. In a career that typically spans 30+ years you should choose a company that will get you a seniority number at the next level sooner.
You can't predict the future but history has shown upgrade at a regional as a good predictor of getting hired at a major. In that context hotel for training is an irrelavent factor when choosing a regional.

"package" of benefits

every company provides a different "package" of benefits to employees--airlines, retailers, financial service, government.....apply to the company that best fits your wants/needs....also, you could write a letter to company management & board sharing your thoughts on providing additional specific benefits to pilots

In addition to the recently announced LAX base, a SEA domicile is rumored to launch by summer. Source verifiable, first hand information.

Is compass growing or just shifting crews around?
