Two cancelations today due to unavailable pilots and dozens of emails from scheduling recently asking..begging.. for pilots to fly trips on their days off. I got a call after my last trip begging time to "help them out and do them a favor and they'd make me a deal" if I extended myself into my day off to cover flights the next day.

Curious. With operational issues arising and potentially more coming with the flow as well as new planes arriving, are those planes in jeopardy? Is the Delta contract in jeopardy? That's a serious amount of pilots needed to cover.
Also, are any guys leaving for other companies other than the Delta flow?

I don't think anything is in jeopardy due to a few flights cancelling. They decided to wait to upgrade until last minute. Plenty in the pipeline to cover, its just delayed. Everyone is having staffing issues this day and age.

The training department effectively took the summer off compared to what they could have been doing, they were training more last July then they were this July. These upgrades that they are just starting should have been started at the latest in October. This reminds me of me in college waiting until Sunday night to do that paper. The performance will only continue to get worse. So what happened did two people call in sick?

They waited to train captains and now have to essentially deadhead pilots from other bases to cover the flying. If they started two months ago this wouldn't have happened. I'm guessing the 60 day holdback will unfortunately go to 90 soon.
There isn't a bunch of open time in any base, just sick calls and duty time issues are causing the problems.

I'm going to be interested to see if they try and increase the number they are upgrading per month when they start to realize how far behind they are...though that probably wouldn't solve the issue either due to the training backlog of fos. I was scratching my head it the fall when the months went by without upgrade awards. Oh well.

The needed upgrades could be used as leverage to better the pilot group. No one upgrades until improvements are made.
