If you are in the first class in January, you should expect to be just around 560-ish on the current seniority list. I'm not sure exactly, but the latest vacancy notice that closes on Dec. 30th is accounting for a total of 563 pilots on the property. I assume it includes all the classes that started (or will start) this calendar year. Now this may not sound that great, but you have to consider that within a year at least 150 pilots will flow to Delta and there will be other attrition (let's say 20-30 being conservative), that puts you within 400 number. I don't know what's the target hiring number, but I can't imagine less then 650. That puts you awfully close to the CA position provided you've got your 1000 hours of 121 flying and there are going to be some people that will have to bypass. Again, I don't know how many, but there are plenty of new hires (minority, but nonetheless) who don't meet this criteria. The worst case scenario you are going to be a senior FO waiting for an upgrade, and that's not a bad place to be.
As far as jumpseating, business casual is good enough. No jeans or shorts, but that's obvious.
Good luck and welcome!

Word I've been hearing is there are a ton of FOs without 1000 SIC- specifically just over 100.
Upgrade should be going very junior starting in a couple months. Good luck!

Curious how the company keeps track of that, other than when you fill out initial paperwork. I've heard they do not use any Sabre products to keep track of SIC time

I have a class date coming up in January and I'm looking to quell some last minute jitters. I know some of the following questions have been asked, but I'm looking for up to date info as this is a huge life decision. I don't want to come off as not willing to pay my dues, but rather just trying to be well informed prior showing up to class. I will be commuting for the foreseeable future.
1. About what number would an early January hire be on the current seniority list?
2. I know this hire date puts me relatively late to the party, but what are your thoughts on movement with this seniority?
3. Can anyone give any insight as to a typical reserve schedule? The recruiters gave the impression that I wouldn't have to spend much time, if any, on reserve. Do you agree?
4. As a LAX lineholder, What's an average month entail?
5. What is the proper attire to jump seat home after indoc? If full crew apparel is required, any suggestions?
Thanks for all your input.

I feel confident saying nobody truly knows with certainty how many FOs don't meet upgrade mins. Not the union, training department, nor flight ops management. Its all estimation.

Chief pilot estimated around 90. The union and the company has had us fill out sheets with airline 121 or 135 time. If it is 90, upgrade should drop below 6 months middle of next year.
