This thread used to be much better. Lately it's turned into a *****-fest.
404,
You have a lot of good comments. If people don't want to listen, that's their prerogative.
Everybody else,
Leave him alone. You are poking the beast!
I'm sick of reading the 5 of you arguing back and forth. Y'all are turning people off to compass airlines.

If people are judging where to go for there airline career on people complaining on APC, the airlines wouldn't exist...404 doesn't need an ego boost any more than he already gives himself!

I bought a used flight case to carry those binders, not protect them. If they break, I print new ones for free. Buying a flight case is entirely up to the pilot. Expensive or cheap. I have seen pilots use their carry-on and other bags to carry them. Bags that can be used for other things. Your insurance is a free company printer in the crewroom to replace your charts.
Break your Ipad, your personal bought case will do nothing to insure you against a $600 claim if the company decides to charge you. Good luck printing a new Ipad on the company crew room printers.

The one thing I've learned from my posts on here, is we have about 5 pilots that refuse to accept any facts that go against their beliefs.
Just look at the adtg debacle. I only wanted to make sure everyone understood it wasn't a min day option, yet those hell bent against the adtg saw it as a threat to them getting rid of it. It took days before they started to admit it really wasn't a min day option and after that they just reverted to attacking.
Now when it comes to the Ipads, they refuse to acknowledge the fact we are now on the hook for $700 piece of company property when before we could print out new Jepps for free.
They want their shiny Ipads and they refuse to see the real issue here.

I am getting a little tired of this, but what the hell. The point here is that YOU BOUGHT something to supplement the company property. Whether it is to carry or protect or whatever, you bought it out of necessity. Other pilots BOUGHT the bag or case that worked for them. You BOUGHT a used flight case, and that apparently makes it OK to you, so I will go on EBAY and buy a used Ipad case. Does that really change the issue at hand here? Second, I know that the company will charge me for a broken Ipad, case or not, just like they will charge me for lost or damaged jepps, case or not. The point of the case is to reduce the possibility of that unfortunate circumstance in the first place.
I can replace my broken Jepps for free with a crew room printer. You can't replace your broken $700 Ipad with a crew room printer

Far as I know we're getting a protective case provided by the company soon as they're in stock, so personally I'm just gonna wait to get that.

As I mentioned earlier, the case they are providing is not a case. It's a pouch/sleve whatever you want to call it. Definitely not a protective case. Now maybe you heard in addition to this pouch we would get a case? That would sure be nice. Nothing protects the iPad once you actually take it out of the pouch to use it

I know someone who interviewed this week and got Mar. 5th. Not nearly the long wait just a few months ago.

Where we differ is what that means. To me, voluntarily spending $20 to protect the ipad from accidental damage and consequently myself is reasonable. I see that as very much in line with what we have all done in the past with chart cases to transport and protect our jepps. It is my choice, mostly driven by the fact that I drop my phone about 5 times a day, and I don't think the Ipad will survive that. You, on the other hand see that choice as me being a "RJ pilot with no backbone" and pretty much destroying the entire industry, all over a $20 ipad case. We will just have to agree to disagree on this one.
