It doesn't effect anything other than the ratio between captains and FOs. We still upgrade captains, just at slower rate than hiring FOs. Right now we have 364 captains and 415 FOs (according to the last notice of vacancy). In LAX the disproportion is the biggest (235 CAs and 290 FOs). Not all the CAs are on the line yet, some still in training or waiting for the class, some on a leave. There were 188 CAs bidding for March in LAX and 162 estimated lines. The number of lines has been consistently stable since we received the last airplane delivery, so after all the upgrades are done, considering no attrition, we should be properly staffed on the CA side. The FO side is in my opinion more then properly staffed already. I can't see the exact numbers, but I know that there's almost no open time and more than ample number of reserves. That is happening while probably over 90 FOs are still in training (maybe someone can chime in with the exact numbers). I think the company is simply stacking up on FOs mostly because it takes almost 3 months to train a new hire and as little as 3 weeks to upgrade a captain. The valid question is, why so many FOs? If it's just to replace attrition, then I'm missing something. The attrition increased but it's still not that high (5-10 a month at the most). We are hiring way more then that...

Hardly, when only year 1 rates went up. CA pay is the much bigger part of the equation and most of ours flowed. I bet you we got cheaper since that chart came out. As for attrition being not that much... I personally know many captains and even some lucky FOs going places. Attrition is at least 10 a month, not 5, and this is a small pilot group and I think it's the tip of the iceberg. That's why we are so FO heavy. They can throw out the CA upgrades quick but FOs are cheap and in this environment if you can staff you can get more flying. I still don't think AA is at 100% yet, those planes sit a lot, but just wait.

I agree a couple of the ramp guys at the eagles nest say operations are gonna increase around April whether that means more flying for us or other regionals coming in there I don't know but they said they were told operations will increase. Again this is just hear say from the ramp guys but I was told by a few of them operations overall will increase there

We were told during upgrade a good chance of a minimum of 6 more birds for AA. Where in the heck are they gonna park them if that happens?

I'm sure we're all equally clueless the exact number and places they went it's all hear say but again a check airman told me we lost about 3 check airmen to majors recently along with a bunch of other captains (more hear say)
